LOL Here i was thinking we will be building theme with daisy ui and tailwindcss
1:05:05 that was funny and right, unfortunately the wp ui it not intuitive in many aspects.
Thank you for doing these livestreams. This has been SUPER helpful with me understanding how block themes work, the editor, etc. All the insight about what setting should do what. Thank you so much!
Great video but a very bad developer experience with this block stuff... no indentation, no syntax highlight, mixing of classes and inline css. This should be the future of wordpress?
jesus christ! No dark mode? My eyes! All other correct and nice.
Apologies for the theme choice. There are mixed opinions about this.
hi, apart from html, css, js and php, what other codes will be used in wordpress development?
Those are all a good start. A lot depends on what you want to accomplish. The main thing is to understand how WordPress APIs work and how to use them effectively. The developer handbooks at developer.wordpress.org are a good place to start.
Thank you
we are going backwards not forwards. it takes me 2 days and a night already to figure out how to get a finished Figma design into PW sales. some complex installations that install docker to have lots of plagins to block you need as elements. and the video website looks like it's from the 70's
Workflow changes are challenging! I expect things will get easier and better tooling will emerge to help with these challenges.
Where is your video on 'classic, hybrid and universal' themes video?
I will add updating this information to my future video list!
It's really interesting because I am a few months behind you and the shadow documentation has already changed. Thanks so much for these videos!
So true. It’s a fast moving topic.
Daisy, Thank you so much, Your tutorial is simply amazing! I'm truly grateful for your generosity in sharing your knowledge. Your video has been incredibly helpful, and I can't thank you enough. Your talent and dedication are inspiring.. I can't wait to apply what I've learned. Keep up the fantastic work! Love from Egypt <3
I have been searching for more information about developing the new block theme and this is the best I have found so far.
Hi Daisy. Thank you kindly for taking your time to share your knowledge via these videos. Seeing how you troubleshoot errors and issues is just as insightful as the main topic you’re covering. Learning how to do this hybrid approach has been really useful. With gratitude
Glad it was helpful! I think of my approach as learning in public. I find it helpful for me too.
Fine for me

Daisy, re: the code for adding theme support, I noticed a yellow box of empty space before add_theme_support( 'block-template-parts' ); When you removed that empty space, the PHP errors disappeared.
I think you are right. There was some kind of strangeness from the copy/paste!
I know the editor handbook says to use the init hook to register block patterns, but maybe it will also work on "wp" when conditional tags are available?
Unfortunately I don't think there's a way to do this head-on. I have some other thoughts that I will be trialing out a bit more on this week'd stream.
i found a gem!! thanks!! if you explain like this all your past videos definility i see all. Thanks for your effort
Happy to help!
Hi, Daisy! Great video series. I learned a lot from them. Can you tell me something... As a theme developer, what will be the best approach to start creating a theme from scratch? It would be to design the whole theme in the editor and then export each template/parts file? Because I think it's kind of hard to create all HTML templates from scratch using an IDE. Am I right?
Good question! If you have not already, I would definitely recommend checking out the Create Block Theme plugin. A lot of your theme can actually be built right in the WordPress site editor and then exported into a portable theme. There may be some code to edit but it will definitely cut down on the need to create block markup by hand.
Thank you 🙂
Hi Daisy. Thanks a lot for the four sessions to now. I am looking SO MUSH forward to your session with focus on typography. Hope you use time on hosting fonts locally contra dynamically getting them from (typically) Google as to adhere to GDPR for Europe. Not sure if CPRA also pose issues getting fonts dynamically from Google.
Thank you for these. 🙂🙌
Glad you like them!
thanks for the videos, the content is great 😃
So glad you find it to be useful!
Hi Daisy; have seen several KZread videos with you. Always learned something new. Where do I sign up to attend your live stream?
Hello! I stream via Twitch at twitch.tv/daisyonwp
Thanks Daisy, I learnt a lot from this. Looking forward to the next episode.
Glad it was helpful!
How doesn't this have more likes. Beginning my long postponed WP journey, and just discovered the series. Thank you VERY much :)
Thanks so much! I'll be doing a lot more Block Theme content in the future. This series could use some updating, there are so many new features!
@@DaisyOlsen yes please! I'm still very confused. I think I'm missing some basic thing and that is confusing me with everything on top ;) Will check out your new video. Thanx
Thank you it's very useful seriese really it's important and cleare explanation , I have one question , is it possible to integrate bootstrap manually without plugins like in Classic themes ?
Daisy 10/10 thank you a lot
Thank you Daisy, this was super helpful!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Daisy for a great series (so far?). I've watched all five and learnt a lot. It might be helpful for KZread viewers if there was some basic video editing? Sometimes you're forced into side-tracks by questions that aren't really relevant. Thanks again for sharing your expertise.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll see if I can work some editing into my process at some point in the future. I do hope to put out some more focused video content in the future as well.
Thank you so much! Finding structured, in-depth information about how to build block themes is quite a feat haha, everything is so scattered -- but with this series of walkthroughs I feel I'll get so much closer to actually being able to create and publish one. Thank you so very much for sharing this content with us and for your commitment to the WP ecosystem. <3
I'm so glad to hear you are finding the videos to be useful!
I just recently found out about this learning series. I knew it was about time but wasn't quite ready to shift my mindset to the full site editing concept. I'm glad I dragged out myself and rushed to catch up to #4. Phew 😅. Still a bit overwhelming, but thanks for giving me a good starting point.
Nic presentation of theme.json. And I loved the dog bark at about 15:00. Nice touch. :-)
Hi Daisy, thanks for the 3rd session upload. Will you also upload the 4th session? I missed the event actually due to the timezone 🙄
The video should be available now, thanks for asking!
Thank you!
You bet!
So great that you're giving such a nice intro to this! I'm watching this to catch up before Part 3 tomorrow. But luckily WP 5.9 is already out so I've been able to play a little. Looking forward to continuing the deep dive!
I'm so glad to hear you are finding the series to be useful!
Great! Thank you very much
You are welcome!
Many thanks to you.
You are most welcome
