Construction Landscape with designs by Jennifer

I’m a landscape designer in Vero Beach, FL. Sharing some of my absolute favorite plants and trees I use daily in my designs. I’ll explain a little about their temperaments and what areas of the garden they can be used in. I love sharing plant tips and what works so well in our Florida landscapes. This may be a helpful video for you if you live along the Space or Treasure Coast. Hope it inspires the rest of the plant addicts like me to get out in their gardens and plant. If you would like more help with having me come out. My husband and I own Construction Landscape Co. In Vero Beach, Fl. We offer designs as part of our landscape installation process. We have a blank canvas project and are leaning towards using decorative rock rather than mulch due to wind in our area. In a previous video you mentioned that you used weed fabric underneath the areas of decorative rock…I hear a lot of mixed opinions on whether or not to use the weed fabric with the decorative rock and I’m struggling trying to decide what to do with our project. Perhaps you could clear a few things up pertaining to your personal philosophy of using weed fabric with the decorative rock. 1. Do you always use weed fabric with decorative rock? Perhaps you can expand on your personal philosophy on weed fabric with the decorative rock. 2. What type of weed fabric do you recommend? 3. Can you elaborate on any do’s and don’ts pertaining to the installation process? For example, are there common mistakes to avoid or rules of thumb to live by. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, my head is spinning with all of the conflicting information that I come across in my research. Just an FYI…we live in Utah where we get a lot of snow in the winter and fairly hot in the summer.

    The bunnies eat my blue daze. Do you have any idea how to stop that? In fact they ate my entire butterfly garden , including Pentas. haha. I ended up tearing it all out. I put in beach sunflowers which they also ate but it is an insane grower. I'd like to add blue daze to my front bed though.

    My plants dropped blooms and then leaves.....All the while the leaves were smooth and deep green with no color change, no wilting, no mold or fungus, and no evident insects. 😢

  • @bittersweethouse
    @bittersweethouseКүн бұрын

    @DeborahFuselier When my bougainvillea drops green leaves it is due to lack of water. The one that consistently drops green leaves is very pot bound and I can't change it because it is too large. I wouldn't be able to go 2 weeks without water. I drench it until the water comes out of the bottom every 2-3 days in this 95 degree Florida weather. In cooler weather, I might only water 1x a week. The plant is trying to save itself by shedding leaves. If the leaves turn yellow first and then drop, that might mean it is too much water.

  • @stylewithlivingart

    they are such a hardy plant so you probably won’t have any issues transplanting it. just be sure to give it a big enough Root ball so it stands up and roots quickly trim up the lower fronts so there’s not so much weight on it and it’s always a great idea to wait and transplant when it’s not Midsummer. good luck, Gardner.

  • @stylewithlivingart
    @stylewithlivingart13 күн бұрын

    No, not at all just tighten the nozzle so you’re only spraying the weed even if it’s in close proximity to the plants the weed grabs it takes it to the root system. Just make sure there’s enough separation from the weed and the plant they cannot be touching.

  • @stylewithlivingart
    @stylewithlivingart15 күн бұрын

    Hello Kelly, I tried the vinegar solution without any real results. I’ve tried a couple other remedies without any real benefit. I’m always open to try out other options and changes in the garden however roundup works and only needed a few times a year once the initial weeds are gone.

  • @kelliwebb2870
    @kelliwebb287014 күн бұрын

    @@stylewithlivingart I wouldn’t use it regardless! The problem with vinegar is it washes off in our rains. You have to do it in the morning before the rains. And also helps to have the sun shining on it and I know you have a lot of shade in your yard. Roundup causes cancer! It has been proved! They’ve lost in lawsuit after lawsuit! Just trying to watch out for you!

    do you experience staining of masonry with Souther Ag nutritional spray? Also, watering? I planted my triple bottle about 5 weeks ago, love love love him. Currently still watering him on a dip line daily, although I just cut down the volume of the drip. What are your watering recommendations! LOVE your videos....I think I have most of them men orized by now!!!!

  • @stylewithlivingart
    @stylewithlivingart10 күн бұрын

    hello Diane, the areas that I spray the nutritional spray are not near pavers or the house however, I did spill some on my driveway when mixing it a few months back and it rinsed away cleanly with no residue so I can’t be certain, but I’ve not had any issues with it so far. As for the bottle palm “ congrats. They are awesome aren’t they “ if you’re near my area of Florida with this heat, I would continue watering once Daily a good saturation in the early morning hours is ideal to keep the stress down through the summer days heat. once it’s established that big base holds water well and can live fine on a 2 to 3 day week watering cycle.

    Yes. I use it for dollar weed it is generally a water weed so I found this works the best however, there is specific dollar weed killer that you can buy. I know Home Depot and Lowes sell it. I’m not sure If Amazon sells It comes in and out of stock so often. good luck I know it’s a tough weed to deal with if you can limit the amount of water that area gets that may help too.
