Stewart Copeland

Stewart Copeland

Loud drummer just needs love. But plays loud anyway
🥁 Drummer @thepolicebandofficial
🎵 Musician
📝 Composer
🎥 Video maker

Wild Jams at the Sacred Grove.
My rock star chums come here to hang and play live music. Cameras and mics are pre-rigged so there's nobody in here but us.
Jazz, punk, funk, rock, blues, eclectic, world beat, metal, pop and " Avant Bang" all get destroyed here.
The sessions begin with nothing. The players arrive without a shred of material and we just play the first thing that comes into our heads.
It doesn't look like a studio in here. There are a few things missing, technicians for one thing. I have it all rigged so that I can run the gear myself. I've spent many happy hours tinkering with the wires, microphones, pre-amps, cameras and crevulators so that it's all routed, line checked and hidden.
With the technology in mufti, all you can see is a jungle of musical instruments. The players pick an amp, drum or horn and start playing.

If they would only show up to gigs on time. We have resorted to telling our drummers in the past and present sound check was an hour before it was to combat their tardiness.

Stewart was playing at a tempo that he'd specifically calculated to make 'the singer's' job just that little bit harder; grinding him down over the duration of the tour, and slowly breaking his spirit 😂.

Fantastic freaking drummer. Andy is bitching "too fast", the tempo is PERFECT. Then the video flashes to 4 minutes later and stu hasn't sped up ONE BPM. NOT ONE.

Here’s a perfect example of the drummer , myself included, know EXACTLY what the tempo sounds best at. Just like the Pearl Jam, Matt Cameron video where all the losers are bitching it’s too fast, or the newer Foo with Josh rehearsal one, which is absolutely perfect
