It was probably keeping it rust free. You might have a real small oil leak aswell.

If it wont run without the glow plug igniter, shave the head to increase compression., Diesel auto ignites with enough cpmpression. Really cool to see this. Super cool.

212 is just better in most ways. not to mention the countless upgrades. ive got a 224 in my kart and the thing puts out around 20-22hp on a 450 dollar budget build.

The diesel actually is stronger torque wise. And more fuel efficient and can run on WMO and WVO too. No gas engine can do that and no carbs to gum up.

@@dieselbossbrandon i can see it being an upgrade there with multifuel and no carb but if you read specs for those 196cc diesels are around 8-9 nm or about 5.9 to 6.7 foot pounds. these things are essentially like the N/A diesels from the 70s they may be tanks but they are absolute dogs. for comparison a predator 212 makes 8 foot pounds and change, but it needs to rev a tad higher to get there

Lol nice try guys but this is not a diesel conversion its just a gas engine running on diesel fuel not enough compression to ignite the fuel as they barely make 120 psi at wide open throttle and diesel needs well over 200psi to even try to run

The magneto can't generate anywhere near enough current to heat a glow plug since it was designed to create high voltage at very low current to fire the spark plug. But with the right setup, the glow plug wouldn't be needed anyways once the engine is warmed up because the heat from compression would auto ignite the fuel.

Would this engine be a better alternate than a predator 212? My little brother wants a faster minibike after seeing my stage 4 224 but I’m not sure he can’t handle the torque of a predator just yet

Pretty much all I’m wondering is how quick does the torque come after applying throttle, his current mini requires him to give it just about full throttle from a stop to do anything, and I don’t want him unwilling popping the wheel up as he’s never experienced it

Not really. This engine has the same torque as a 212,but way less horsepower. You I'll be much better off with the 212. This engine is just good for diesel bragging rights.

@@DatHondaBoi223 Yeah, just keep the governor on the 212. If you dont want him accelerating too fast, give him a high gearing, but if you want him to have a low top speed, give him a low gearing.

yep not a diesel. they run on compression not a glow plug. glow plugs can get them started. but once running there is nothing outside to fire it... sooooo nope not a diesel

They make electric turbos that you can install on one of these pretty easy. Just hook it to your battery and a toggle switch. Adds a few hp and a few ft lbs, pretty much would bring it up to the factory motor power.

I have this engine on my reel mower. Brother in law helped to weld a piece of metal on the frame and move the engine back a bit since the backplate is so big. Half the horsepower & not as much peak torque as a gas engine of this size (5 lb-ft vs 8lb-ft) but I really like it.

@@hksjoshuaWhoever it is, he's tripping. I have a few of these engines. 3 horse @ 3000 RPM. Using the formula power = torque * RPM / 5252, that means torque is 5252*Power/RPM, or 3*5252/3000 or 5.25 ft*lbs. The Chinese make this and a 10 horse 418cc (186F) that are imported into the US but they also have larger engines (188F, 190F, 192F, 195F) that they are not allowed to sell here :( I talked to a factory rep on Alibaba, and she said that if they could meet the EPA stage 4(?) requirements, they'd be selling the F out of them to us :)
