Doing 3 acres this year of Clearfields. Same chemicals but had to broadcast them as we had so much rain this spring in Missouri on the weekends when I was off. I lost my father November 29, 2015 and he was my farming partner. It was really rough going it alone for a couple of years. Those 2 hour drives to farm alone seemed like forever. Now my son is 20 and we have a new modern tractor, He is learning the ropes and is tons of help.

🙏 for you and your family. So sorry for your loss. With my Stevens 301 single shot shotgun I was trying a Carlson .555 and after a few test shots I tried the Carlson .568 and it worked great. That's what I went with and the bird that I shot last year was 50 yards away. I just measured the distance last week. At the time I wasn't sure how far away he was, but I knew he wasn't getting any closer. I was using Federal TSS #9 shot and it rolled him over dead. I was really impressed at how well it did. What I found with the .555 choke is that it was too tight and just not giving me a pattern I wanted. This weekend I'll take it out and re-check the zero and pattern again. I hope you are going to do the dove field and videos again. I always enjoy those, but also understand if you are not going to do those this year.

@@redbeardsaga724 Doing good. I'm heading out to plant my sunflowers tomorrow. Congrats on the birds. I can't buy a gobble on my property in GA. I've been many times and I have not seen the first gobbler or bird for that matter. I was seeing some hen tracks, but not any now. The closest AL public I have is Tuskegee NF and that is kind of scary with all the Ya Hoos out there.

Haven't had much to report on. Been kinda down because of the lack of birds. The Hurricane seemed to have pushed more back to us. Glad you have followed along. Gonna try my best to video some of the hunt tomorrow. We will probably shoot til about 10 and then take a break and go get some lunch. Then get back out about 2 or so and try to finish out limits. Look forward to your videos as well.

I feel your pain. North Missouri some of the corn and soybean fields look terrible. My sunflowers are not near as good as last year but I came back and planted a second area 2 weeks after the first area and they look much better. Ground is like a dust bowl.

They say that they are a 100 day or so crop if I remember right. I'd say if you got them in before May is over it might not be too late. I have planted around the 5th-9th the past 3 seasons and had great success.

@ashton3027 timing can be funny. Just have to plant when the conditions allow. My sunflowers planted early May got dried out just in time for opening day. They played out quick because I don't have a big spot planted in them. But it was enough to get us a good opening day shoot which is all I really ask for lol.
