    I started doing this 3 years ago, I can easily shoot free throw well behind the line with ease and flat footed 3 point shot. Logo 3 is also quite easy to hit with a little jump. It is all about making the arching height and stop thinking about the distance.

    Coach, great, thought provoking stuff as always. Question - having the pronounced tilt with the feet to get the shoulder lined up works great on catch and shoot, but in my own experience, seems to make it much harder to shoot off the dribble - especially on step backs, or side steps. Thoughts?

  • @SAVICoaching
    @SAVICoaching10 күн бұрын

    Vast majority of shots will be shooting off the catch. Shooting going left is not difficult. Can be going right but anything becomes automatic with reps.

    The only problem with over tilted feet is its hard to get back to the shot trajectory after dribbling, hence the need for a over powered step back. Great analysis

    true, and if shooting off the dribble moving towards the dominant side you will need to rotate in the air in order to shoot the same shot, or otherwise adjust your shot

    I never paid attention to my feet placement as I shot the ball until many years after; out of curiosity...I noticed that my feet were always pointed inward as instructed in the video...I'm pretty self taught as I didn't have any KZread growing up in the 80s but developed a great shot just by trying to emulate the pros and just shooting a ton of shots as a kid....I also noticed some pro players shoot with their feet straight...I guess to each his own but I highly recommend pointing your feet inward like in this video.

    Beginners (I mean beginners) need these drills. Coaches need these to check if all is done right. First slow and good, later faster and good. But these "boring" and not "gamelike" drills must be kept to a minimum. More fun drills must be used very early otherwise the "boring" drills will take all the fun away.

  • @SAVICoaching
    @SAVICoaching23 күн бұрын

    I like that you acknowledge the importance of fun for beginners. An experienced coach can evaluate performance without these drills. Only beginner coaches need these slow drills to check execution.
