    You must be aware of people who move strategically in your life. It is very close to the word cunning. It’s mostly used in a cunning way.

    5y ago and I only found it today. I couldn't come to a definition, therefore I created a hierarchy of concepts: goal, strategy, objectives, KPIs, plan, campaign, project, tactic, channel, task.

    A strategy is the general approach that defines how you want to achieve your goals in career, business or any other aspect of life. For example, a coach may define his winning strategy as defensive. We want to focus on defending well against opponent, and attack at the right moment with high precision and success rate. Russian strategy in world war II may be defined as a classical defensive strategy, where they defending against German attack, letting them spread and wearing them down with time. Once, they had fully understood German tactics and strengths they began to retaliate and defeated Germans through effective counter attacks.

    I will and can do research. I do research everyday anyway. I need to understand what the word means as it applies to real estate. Not to rip off or get ripped off, but to setup a win-win situation. This word was used by a few people involving real estate. I'm digging to find out what they're saying and if or how I can use it.

    I'm trying to get into real estate. I don't want to trick anyone, but I do want them to listen to me, at least for a minute, all while I learn how to make a good deal for both of us. A win-win. I don't want anyone to get burned, I want a good reputation. I first need to know why and how this word is used. You can't ave a good reputation screwing over people.

    Another great video! I want to suggest you to make a video about the prerequisites to create a strategy, you already talked about one of them: creativity, and I think that the most important is knowledge, if I want to build a castle but don't know nothing about castles, I can't create a strategy to build a castle that is functional.

  • @msena97

    I really liked your definition, but... I think that you put competition in the definition because a lot of what is spoken about strategy come from the bussiness enviroment and war, but it's not necessary because strategy transcend these fields. If I want to set the better strategy to travel around the world with the less money spending possible, I'm not necessarily competing with someone. One of my biggest worries about strategy is that most people think that strategy necessarily is something linked to business or war (both involve competition). Strategy is something bigger. Correct me if i'm wrong.

  • @WhatIsStrategy
    @WhatIsStrategy Жыл бұрын

    Great points Mauricio. You’re 100% right that most strategy is overly focused on war and business and therefore competition and opponents. I would still argue that competition is a necessary part of strategy though, even if the competition is your past or future self (running your best time, lifting a heavier weight..etc). Fundamentally, resources are scarce, or at least non-infinite. You want to maximize world travels while minimizing money spent - the time, money, and other intangible parts of that (like the experience of traveling) are all scarce. More people want those things than can have them so there’s inherently a competition for those resources and experiences. Regardless, I agree with the spirit of your comment - good strategy isn’t all about war and business. It’s often about living the best life we can and we’re not really competing against an opponent in those cases. Thank you for the thought provoking and excellent comment!!

  • @msena97
    @msena97 Жыл бұрын

    @@WhatIsStrategy Oh, I see, you are considering competition because the resources are scarce, and not because the goal of trying to win over someone. I can agree with that. You're welcome. Keep up the good work!

    people talk a lot about strategy and nobody knows what it is. it sounds like a "master plan" or "an unbeliveable mastermind's gameplay" so it sounds cool. personally i was really curious about this and did research about that, and found out some descriptions about strategy which were not absolute. when i saw there is no single definition of strategy, -as you made a video about it- i realized strategy is a personal thing. it's like an orchestra, well coordinated and generally self-made actions that are perfectly designed to become an entirety that gives lots of benefits using less resources. actually i don't think these actions specifically needs to be repeatable, but should be decided by a pragmatic method that leads to the achievement of the goal. but how to decide them is depends on person's intelligence and creativity i think. it's good to see someone making content about this specific subject. subscribed.

    Is tying your shoe a stradegy

  • @WhatIsStrategy
    @WhatIsStrategy2 жыл бұрын

    I’m going to say “no” since tying your shoe is a single activity (vs an aligned set of activities). So it seems like a tactic at best. But maybe you can imagine a competitive landscape where this single tactic could meet the spirit of the definition and be useful.
