    Why cant we just recruit people to the hobby that have the disposable income to afford it? I had all the hudy setup tools to properly set my X4 up before i even took it to the track for the first time, as a beginner. I blame the rednecks making RC all about off-road racing

    It’s a shame they don’t fall under the rules at Leyland. I was going to take my Jok3r there to race and unfortunately I don’t have a complying car. The main thing is you have a car that you can enjoy and race with! That’s the main thing!

    For any Yokomo Kit I've built (with the exception of the RS1.0) a muffin tray to empty the numbered screw bags into is a massive help. I love the Centro parts tray with the screw length gauge as well, really makes this easier. Enjoy the car, I've just retired mine with the MS1.0 on the way and it was brilliant. Cracking, in depth video!

  • @RC.89

    Yes! I definitely recommend having a screws tub/tray. I’ve just searched those trays, what a great idea especially with some bags having more than one screw length in them! Thanks for the feedback and for taking some time out to watch! It’s really appreciated!

    @@RC.89Yeah, it's been on the BD12, just seems to give infinite shock position options and get stuff a little big lower. Very interested to see how the new top arm and c-hub- less setup changes things. I *think* it's so we can play about with KPI (king pin inclination) but I stand to be corrected!

    Hi been running a joker for a month now pretty much same setup so really interested on the results of the motor bath 👍🏻

  • @RC.89
    @RC.892 ай бұрын

    Yeah I’m hoping to get a little more uumph out of the motor. For sure il have to do an update on how that is. I think the usual method is a low voltage through the motor but all I’ve done is just run the motor just by increasing trim in soapy water. Once completely dry used brake cleaner and then Oiled the bearings. The Mardave channel has done a video on a water bath so that may be worth checking out too! Now I’m sure that’s not the ideal way but it’s all a learning curve!

    @@RC.89 I have heard from racers to "run in" motor in reverse also, I wonder if that makes a difference? (I race a carbon Mardve Mini at Barley Mow in Durham, I am new so my experience is limited) EDIT: I wonder if you might benifit from a 16T pinion? IS your motor too hot to touch after a race?

    @@andiwhitworth I understand it wears the brushes to the com in such a way that gives you a tiny bit of timing advance. Like have you ever tried an old tired motor in an rc car in reverse and it was faster? - this is due to that I understand.

    I've been running a BD11 for the indoor season past, it's been brilliant. At £250 I bought a kit from MB as well, just to build a fresh one for outdoors. Incredible value.

  • @RC.89

    I just couldn’t pass on that price! Are there any things I should take note with when it comes to the build. I have seen a few mention the outdrives might need upgrading?

  • @Gingapaint
    @Gingapaint3 ай бұрын

    @@RC.89 the outdrives are the big thing. Steel ones are ok, but they don't take brushes with a wall very well. Alloy ones are much more forgiving. The BD12 front C Hubs fit straight on, are stronger and have the mounts for the carbon body support. I'm using the front bulkhead brace and the RC Maker flex bushing thing. Heavier rear spring helps a lot. The cars been really competitive and I'm the one holding it back! I'm sure the BD12 is another step, but I'm past the stage that a small technical advantage will make the difference.

    @@RC.89 as for the build, just enjoy it. It was my first Yokomo kit and couldn't believe how nice it was to screw together A cupcake tray is a good idea for screws, as they're packed together, rather than for steps like AE/Losi/Tamiya etc. Material, fit & finish is unreal!
