Hi everyone!
My name is Jody and I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. In 2016 I relocated to Florida and lived there for 4 years. In August 2020, I moved to Wisconsin with my fur baby, Bella. I am retired from the accounting field and can now turn my attention to my true passion, crafting. I've been making jewelry for several years, but recently have branched out to many other things, even teaching myself to sew. I'm always looking for new crafts to put my creative spin on. I also enjoy shopping at Michael's, JoAnn's, Dollar Tree and Big Lots which I plan on doing hauls from. I'm the proud Mom of two grown sons, one beautiful daughter in law, one grandchild, and a rambunctious grand puppy Oliver.
I'd like to welcome you to my channel and hope you like it. And please don't forget to subscribe.

Beautiful coasters! Thank you for this very helpful video!
Love the iron method!Glad to know about the FINISH SPRAY!! Thank you!
@@kelh3012 Thank you so much for watching 😊
Beautiful ❤ and how many times did you apply the mod podge to the bag in between !
I use 1 coat before applying the napkin and 1 coat to seal it. Thank you so much for watching 😊
What to use instead of parchment paper??
With the iron on method, parchment paper is the only thing that will not stick to the napkin. Thanks so much for watching 😊
Have you ever tried the nail polish as a finish to decoupage to wood with napkins or fabric?
No I haven’t. My thought is it would peel off eventually. 🤔
Could I glaze this one with napkin like you did the decoupage the wood circles?
Yes, you could if you’d like. Thanks so much for watching 😊
Beautiful!😊
Thank you so much for watching!
High temperature engine gloss! Thankyou! Ive been doing very big thick tiles for serving dish trivets (triangle leather feet) started a few OP Shop spectacle cases $2 ea lovely retro shapes velvet lining in the old second hand cases
Hi. Do you always only put one layer of mod podge on the serviette, marerial or whatecer you use? Regards
Yes, I apply a light layer of mod podge especially to secure the edges. Thank you so much for watching 😊
Did you worry that not putting something in the bag the mod podge would actually go through and glue the bag shut?
Yes, exactly. A piece of cardboard or parchment paper needs to be inside to prevent that from happening. Thank you so much for watching 😊
Such a very informative video. Very novice here. Would the application of applying photos be the same. Thank you! ❤ Btw...new subscriber. So excited to find your channel.
Welcome Becky! I hope you enjoy decoupage as much as I do. I have not worked with photos but I know it can be done. I’m sure you will find a good video on the process. Thank you so much for watching and happy crafting 😊
This is my first time
Welcome! Thank you for watching 😊
Hi, I’m Sunflower. 🌻 Thank you so much for this tutorial. I’m going to try this project.
Thank you so much for watching! Happy crafting 😊
I tried this method but the napkin lifted when I coated it with mod podge about 5 minutes after ironing the napkins. Did the napkin bubble and lift because it was not completely dried from the ironing? Or any other theory as to why my napkin lifted. Thank you for the video. It was very easy to follow.
I’m sorry that happened to you. My guess is that too much mod podge was used. After ironing, I basically do the edges to make sure they are secure and a very thin coat on top. You can try ironing it again. If that doesn’t work, since it hasn’t cured yet, run the tile under water to remove the napkin. I hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching 😊
@@jodyssimpletreasures4421 thank you. I will try that.
Very informative video thank you. Can i put mod podge on a foam let it dry and iron a canvas on the foam board? Will the foam board melt? Will the canvas print be okay? Thank you for you time.
Canvas is fine to use the iron on method. I have a video using 4x4 canvases if you want to check that out. You can decoupage foam board but I wouldn’t use an iron. Coat the foam board with mod podge, either the whole thing or you could work in sections. Lay your napkin down then use either Saran Wrap or a baggie to smooth any wrinkles. I prefer the baggie. I put my hand inside and gently smooth the wrinkles out. I hope this helps. Good luck on your project. Thanks so much for watching 😊
Very nice tutorial could you use a polyacrylic spray to coat will that work with hot cups? Thank you
I’ve seen in my craft group that some people do use Minwax Polycrylic. They brush on 2 coats drying fully between coats, and say hot cups do not stick. I imagine the spray would work the same but I personally have not tried either since I prefer the high heat engine enamel. I hope it works for you if you decide to try it. 😊 Thanks so much for watching!
Cups?! Cripes another giant avenue to travel 👍☮️😀
Beautiful napkins!!!
It’s amazing how many beautiful napkins are out there. Thank you so much for watching 😊
This is beautiful! Love this brilliant tutorial!
Thank you so much for watching! Happy crafting 😊
Thanks! Although using the wet plastic wrap way is so useful for things like one of my projects is a mini house shaped shadow box. No way to fit an iron inside it.
There’s an iron that might work on your project. It’s the Clover Mini Iron. It’s a very small triangle shaped iron on the end of a wand. It’s made for those very tight spaces. I’ve seen them at Michael’s and JoAnn Fabrics. I hope this is an option for your projects. Thanks so much for watching! Happy crafting 😊
I’m just getting started on this type of craft I would like to know more. I will look up your videos. I did enjoy this very much. And yes that is beautiful napkins. But napkins are very expensive to buy when you need. Just maybe one or two I have found out.again thank you very much.❤
Welcome! I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do 😊. Yes, napkins can be very expensive. That’s why I suggest joining napkin swap groups on Facebook. Then you can get the one or two you need for your project. Good luck and thank you so much for watching! Happy crafting 😊
Hmm just FYI when I googled decoupage napkins I ended up buying two or three someone had parceled up for $12 but when I googled party catering napkins I got just about the same designs $5:90 for 20! Wedding napkins a bit dear too but amazing
Thank you very much!
My pleasure! Good luck!
When do you seal the coaster with the high heat gloss sealer . thank you.
I wait at least a week. Thank you so much for watching 😊
So you seal with mod podge, let dry a week & then spray with the high heat sealer. Thanks so much.
Yes. But just keep in mind the mod podge still needs to cure for 28 days.
You mean after all the sealing is done?
The mod podge has to cure for 28 days regardless of when you seal it for your items to be usable. The soonest I use a sealer is 7 days, but I’ve also waited close to the 28 days before sealing.
I love the napkins
Thank you so much for watching!
Thank you for teaching me the heated way! Which lil mini iron did you buy, please?
The iron on method is my go to always 😊. I bought the iron at JoAnn fabrics. Unfortunately it doesn’t work well for me, so I went back to my full size iron. Thank you so much for watching! Happy crafting 😊
Lol I only ever use my iron for craft is that bad to admit? I do have two...happy gluing!
Your tiles look so beautiful. And thank you for your tutorial. I was wondering if I could print out motives on typing paper. This paper is prity thick, that's why I ask. Thank you for answering my question.
Thank you so much. I’m glad you like them. You might want to try printing on tissue paper. You cut the tissue paper a little smaller than the printer paper and tape it on top. It would be thinner and easier to work with. Thank you so much for watching! Happy crafting 😊
@@jodyssimpletreasures4421Great idea! I printed some manatees at library but the paper a bit too opaque for window will give this idea a go! Thanks
Do you seal it at the end
I wait at least 1 week before sealing with high heat engine enamel. Thanks for watching!
@jodyssimpletreasures4421 after sealing how long before use with the vht
@@lauriejewell6231 The mod podge needs to cure for 28 days for the coaster to be usable.
Could I ask a question please. Do you use the corners of napkins with the dots impressed into them? I tried ironing them out, but they didn’t go! All napkins seem to have these round the edges but you can see them if you put them on the tile. It seems such a waste of paper/design. Any suggestions? Many thanks xx
I have had napkins with the dots and have used them as they are. I tried ironing them out also with no luck. Now I embrace the uniqueness of the look with them. Even though I’m sure you’d rather not have them, I’m sure your project looks beautiful. Thank you so much for watching! Happy crafting 😊
I love your voice on your napkin decoupage coasters . And your technique is very good ❤
Thank you so much for your comment and thank you for watching! Happy crafting 😊
What a great video! Thank you for explaining it so well.
Thank you so much for watching! Happy crafting 😊
You said there was a way to get some sample napkins, How do you do that to practice?@@jodyssimpletreasures4421
Check into silco or cilco however it's spelled, craft or small irons they have Alot of left-handed stuff. Hope it helps. Great video thx
Thank you! I’ve learned to live in a right handed world but every now and then it’s a little challenging 😊. Happy crafting!
Yay! KZread gifted me with this video this morning and I’m impressed both by your techniques and your straightforward and easy to follow instructions. And NO music to distract the viewer!!!!! I especially liked you mentioning being anxious and wanting to add more Mod Podge. I struggle with that a lot. I’m on a mission to watch your other videos now. You have another happy fan and new subscriber. Thank you!
Thank you so much! Welcome to my channel and happy crafting 😊
Very nice!
Thank you so much for watching 😊
If you pull the table away from the wall and sit with your back to the wall, the iron would be on the left. Would that work for you? I too am a lefty and face same issues. I came back to your video today because I’m refreshing my mind. Getting ready to do this craft with a couple of little girls from our church. Thank you for this.
When I use that little iron, i do sit a different way. I wish I would have done that before i started taping lol! Im glad you found this helpful. I hope the littles enjoy it. Thank you so much for watching! Happy crafting :)
Mary you should really speak up camera ira are you going to find another video
I’m sorry it was hard to hear. Thank you so much for watching.
Beautiful coasters. Thanks
Thank you so much for watching!
Can the plates get wet to hsndwash or do you just clean the inside ? I've just got into paper napkin decoupage and watcged your ironing episode which suggested fabric i haven't come across this before. I'm excited to try it. THANK YOU. Was difficult to hear, but i persevered 😊 And it was definitely worth it Have a great day.
They can’t be submerged in water just wiped off. There is though dishwasher safe mod podge. I can’t really speak to how well it works as I haven’t used it. I use my plates mostly for decorative purposes or gifts. Sorry about the sound quality but thank you so much watching. Happy crafting 😊
Thank you.for your quick response I thought so. But great to have your clarification
After you Marge podge the top of the napkin. I missed the part about the spray. Is there a curing time or can you just go ahead and spray it right away. I’m sorry if you mentioned it and I missed it but I did not hear you say. If there’s anyone else on here that watch the video and caught that please let me know
The napkin needs to be totally dry before sealing. Personally I like to wait at least a week before sealing but 24-48 hours would be sufficient. I have found the best results when the sealant cures at least a week. I hope this helps. 😊
I loved this tutorial and have watched several of them. I think you have the best decoupage tutorials on KZread! I think I will try my luck with using fabric first on a wood shaped piece and then venture into trying napkins. Your items are so beautiful and I'm glad I found your channel. I've been wanting to learn decoupage for awhile and with your helpful videos, I'm going to do it!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed the videos and found them helpful. I hope you enjoy decoupaging. The possibilities are endless. Happy crafting 😊
I agree with you about the parchment paper instead of plastic wrap. I had a terrible time with that saran wrap way. I tried parchment after watching and it worked! Thank you channel!
Iron on method is my go to. Im so glad it worked for you! Happy crafting 😊
Why do you have to leave them for 28 days?…seems a bit excessive imo
Yes, it seems excessive, but according to the directions on the bottle, mod podge has to “cure” for 28 days to be effective. Mod podge is a glue and will remain sticky until fully cured.
Hello, can I do the same process with cement coaster???
Yes, you can. Depending on the color of the coaster, you might need to paint it white first though. Thanks for watching! Happy crafting 😊
I think I'm late to the game... I'm new, could use some napkins, and can I use clear coat as a base and let dry? ( The way you use mod podge parchment and a iron?)
Mod podge is a glue and clear coat is a sealer. You need the mod podge to adhere the napkin. I hope this helps. If you would like some napkins, please email your address along with what you would like. Thanks for watching! 😊
Beautiful napkins! I made a really pretty tile (6x6) for my neighbor for Christmas. She lived it.
They do make beautiful gifts, whether they’re used as trivets or decorative items. Thank you so much for watching! Happy crafting 😊
Is a good idea to sand the tile before applying these Mod Podge.
I never sand the tile before applying mod podge. I do know that some people sand the tile lightly between coats when they apply the final sealer. I don’t though. Thank you so much for watching! 😊
If kim kardastion did crafting
Excuse me?
Your voice reminds me of her ..no insult ..really enjoyed your demonstration .. very elegant .. I mean . I hope I have explained .. ha ha
Lol! That’s a first for me! Thanks for explaining 😊
As soon as you said that you're left handed i subscribed to your channel because there are so few lefties in the craft world!! LOL 😅 There are so many crafts that are almost impossible to do if you're a lefty, so we have to stick together ❤️ 😄 Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia
Welcome Amanda! You are so right my friend. We definitely have to adapt. But we do it and create beautiful things. Here’s to us lefties! 👏
Dear Jodie, I agree, hooray for us lefties - all over the world. Love from Amanda ❤
Thank you so much for this tutorial. God bless you always. 💕
Thank you so much for watching!
You make he cutest things. ❤. Have you tried any other paper besides napkins? We are a small community and cannot find the super cute napkins that you show. 😊
I also use fabric, scrapbook paper and magazine pictures. I have a video using fabric scraps and also fabric backed plates. Thank you so much for watching and your kind comment. Happy crafting 😊
Love this idea! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching 😊 Happy crafting!
Just found your video I’m just learning and was wondering where you get the beautiful napkins.
I find napkins at retail stores like Target, Ross, Marshall’s, Walmart and even Dollar Tree. I order online from Celebrate the Home and Amazon. Etsy also has napkins if your looking for singles. Resale stores and boutiques are always good to look at. Then there’s the Facebook napkin swapping groups. I’ve swapped with people all over the world. Hope this helps. Happy crafting 😊
