Tennis is Returning to its society roots. Tennis was and is again a Rich Man Sport. I am a witness of tennis snobbery and economics. Biggest Failure of tennis began in the early 60’s Total Absence of great coaches for the general public. One hour of a coach hitting a bucket of balls for 50 bucks with 5 minutes of strategy and technique NEVER CUT IT!! Men and women left totally disgusted and never returned!! Tennis is returning to being a rich man’s sport! That’s It!!

Tennis is not a rich man's sport. That would be golf. I play tennis almost everyday for free at the local park.

11:13 - the whole reasoning about "the ball hits the front strings and then the back strings, so it's a double hit" is *complete* bullshit 😂 and everyone involved *absolutely* knew it

The problem for me is that too many women has used lies to destroy their partners or non-partners (Johnny Depp found not guilty, Kevin Spacey found not guilty). I don't think it is right for organisastions like ATP to be forced to deal with allegations. And this goes across all industries, male or female.

My coach in the 90s had one of these(don't know if it was a real one or if a copy). If you could return the ball 3 times we didn't have to do laps. We always did laps.

Having played both in highschool pickleball feels like a version of tennis with the barrier of entry removed. Tennis is difficult to get into you have to actually train and learn how to play for hours to not simply get stomped against an actual tennis player. Pickle ball on the other hand, is fun.

Who cares about this squabbling between players of two sports? Seriously, it's as important as the squabbling between two siblings you don't know. *The real issue is the noise pollution.* That annoying ponk, ponk, ponk harms tons of people who have nothing to do with this sports clash.

The people at the top would do anything to stop any change that might remove them from the top. So they will cry and throw tantrums to preserve the "purity" of the sport, and freeze it in time. From new rackets in tennis, to recumbent bikes in cycling, good ideas get banned to preserve a stale status quo.

I worked at a sports equipment store a couple years ago, and not only could we not keep pickleballs on the shelves because of how fast they were selling, but we had to protect the rackets as if they were diamonds because of how many were being stolen lmao. Meanwhile, the tennis stuff sat there largely untouched

I grew up as a tennis player so I am a tennis purist, but I understand the appeal of pickleball. But from what I have seen of pickleball infringing on tennis courts is actually absurd. Taking over and if not outright replacing the tennis courts. It's a new and fun sport with a very low entry barrier, so of course it gains popularity. Tennis, however, is an ancient sport with a rich history that has withstood the test of time. Tennis is worthy of respect and having this infringement on its courts by a simpler sport is why tennis players hate it.

I feel like telling the player to drink more water shouldn't be considered coaching. It's protecting the player's health, no different to calling the doctor on if they get hurt.

I've always conflated this with the stabbing of former Beatle George Harrison... Mandela Effect alert!!! Or just faulty memory, as is more the rule than the exception? 🤔 Nah, it's definitely the Mandela Effect, which is a much more exciting explanation, though, so... In an alternate universe, George Harrison was stabbed during a tennis match sometime in the late 90s!!!

I really liked your video. It was interesting to learn about how tennis organizations are screwing themselves through bureaucracy. I don't think you talked about the major reason why pickleball is gaining in popularity. It's easier to play than tennis and you need to be less athletic to play it. I'm 41 and have only been playing a month and have drastically improved my game in such a short timeframe. The point you made on KZread content is critical but I don't want KZread to see the games. I watch it for tips on how to hold the racket, serve, etc. Teenagers can come and play grandparents and get their asses kicked. Not many sports do that (golf?). Plus it's a decent workout. That's why it's fun and popular. It's ridiculously easy for anyone to learn and become reasonably good at in weeks. When I go to the gym I can do the treadmill for cardio or play pickleball for 90 minutes. It's such an easy sell and also a great way to make friends.
