The Specials are back with ten songs on a brand new album. Influential, important and exhilarating live, they are a band embedded in this country's DNA. It is impossible to envisage the musical landscape without them, from the startling, angular Gangsters in 1979 to their swan song, the epoch-making Ghost Town in 1981. They infused ska with punk, homegrown political anxiety with wider issues. The Specials' ascendancy was swift. Two years, seven hit singles including two number ones, two hit albums, sell-out tours - the mass stage-invasions and audience energy only adding to the myth. They were everywhere; on Top of the Pops, Radio One, nightclubs and school discos.
The brand new album 'Encore' is avaliable to order now - TheSpecials.lnk.to/EncoreYD

It just never gets old
a real highlight this , dammers jarring organ nagging away in the background somehow conveys the discord , great vocals too , it really does sound like rhoda is in tears near the end
I identified as a punk back in the day but gravitated toward ska later on in my early 20's. Everything about it was more relatable.
This is the song of my 20's. "Bruh, you're having a kid? WTF?
Catchy and upbeat the Dancing even the World over 1984, and the Breakdancing making its first appearance at the Paris Olympics they should include these songs do the moves. Thanks Stan he did his bit on the song aswell to be blessed and part of the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so much oh hail the 80s atmosphere could harp on and explain vibes and feelings like no other time or place in history
Still fantastic, fresh and enthousiastic!
👍
The first gig I ever went to was The Specials. I loved the music and the message, it defined my life. This band gave me greedy ears and the best of times with lovely humans. Thanks to all of you! Peace.
Yeah, God may bless the killer jailbird Nelson Mandela, thanks to whom the world can see now, after 30 years, what happens when we take away the rein from those ones who can operate a civilized country and throw it amongst the naggers. The RSA has been changed from a safe, prosperous, rich country, Africa's leading industrial and economical power to a life-threatening garbage dump. Thanxalot, Mandy.

Who came to listen to this again after dance dance revolution?
Love love love this song
Omg I love this song ❤❤❤
Forty years later or there abouts and what has changed. We don't do protest songs like this any more and it's a bad thing. The state of the UK is a joke and there's too many parallels with the depressed recession of the 1980s. It's no surprise there's kids having kids who should still be having teenage fun or twenty something year old fun but they're raising kids for whatever reason, putting it all on the welfare state. This song still rings so true.

5/2024...........I don't know the history of this group, but I was introduced to their music in the 1980s. I've loved them ever since. Their outfits are Cool, very Retro 1960s. The MODS look. I was in my mid 20s in 1980, and in Art school. Skinny ties were back in fashion.

Mum bought you a fur coat when you were fifteen You wore it to the disco but everyone was in jeans But you were a rich girl and only having fun Your low cut dresses brought stares from everyone Hey, little rich girl where did you go wrong? You left for London when you were nineteen Had to pull off your nice clothes just living on dreams A man in the bright lights took all that you own Now he's taken your freedom for a fate unknown But you were a rich girl hardly having fun Your worn out dresses brought stares from everyone Hey, little rich girl where did you go wrong? Hey, little rich girl you've been away for so long And now little rich girl my words are in this song Hey, little rich girl my love for you is gone And now little rich girl I know where you went wrong At your dad's office party all the movies were blue Caused him so much heart ache because the screen star was you You left for London when you were nineteen Had to pull off your nice clothes but you were living on dreams You were a rich girl and only having fun But your worn out dresses brought stares from everyone Hey, little rich girl where did you go wrong?
