@RobertLoughlin7 жыл бұрын
Pretty much any of the big brands entry level dirt jump bikes will be fine for a beginner as the frames will be the same as the higher end models and you can upgrade the components as you go. You can also go pre-owned as there's usually some good deals on Pinkbike buy/sell and local free ads/ebay. Just try and avoid supermarket bikes and you should be fine!

where is that trail? i tried to find it - i went to the top of teufelsberg (where there is an abandonned building) then went down 3 times but never found a clean trail, was always in the trees super narrow. any help would be cool! thanks
@RobertLoughlin8 жыл бұрын
+pierre g It starts up by the fence to the abandoned building. If you imagine you are at the top of Teufelsberg and you are facing the TV tower then it's to your left. It starts out narrow but opens out further down.

rode this yesterday and have to say it is absolute dog shite! this is not a freeride trail, more like a shitty pump track.
@RobertLoughlin8 жыл бұрын
+taius20 I didn't name the trail! I dunno what pumptracks you are riding that have 25ft tabletops on them but they sound awesome! This video is also now 3 years old. I haven't been back to Llandegla since I made this video so I don't know what the maintenance on this trail has been like - perhaps some of the jumps have lost their shape a bit since then?
@RideBikes_Walkplaces8 жыл бұрын
Robert Loughlin yeah i know you didn't. its just trail centres always name freeride sections when they are far from it. im used to bigger freeride stuff with cock hill been my local.

I feel the video was very slow as all the shots were done on a tripod. I would have maybe thrown in a couple of slider shots or even a glidecam into the mix just to liven it up a tad!
@RobertLoughlin9 жыл бұрын
ITisCRAIG If I had a slider or a glidecam I would definitely have used them! Some of the shots are a bit slow I agree but in trying to get a lot of coverage of the remodel it sort of had to be that way I feel. I did try to speed it up a bit with the transitions and I don't think the second half of the video is slow at all.

I'm new to btm, but my goal is to ride a mix of cross country and freeride, should i use click pedals or is that a bad idea?
@RobertLoughlin9 жыл бұрын
Baws Dafuq Personal preference to be honest. I don't ride clips for anything. I've tried them in the past and I didn't get on with them. There's no denying they are more efficient for cross country cycling, road cycling and hill climbing stuff but it would be a very rare sight to see a freerider clipped in as they usually ride flat pedals. I am considering clips for my road bike but that's as far as I would ever go with clips. I have been riding for almost 20 years though so I'm a bit stuck in my ways now!
@Toastybear18 жыл бұрын
i totally agree, and I'm the same with mtb flats, i don't want clips at all off road! but i urge you to try some clips on your road bike, it does make a big difference (well, it did for me) -and when i broke a pedal once and had to go back to using flats on my road bike for a week or two, i really noticed how i couldn't keep up with any of my friends uphill especially!

@RobertLoughlin9 жыл бұрын
Probably not until the summer with a bike :( My DH bike is pretty much out of commission as it has almost as much travel side to side as it does up and down thanks to totally worn out everything and I think I may end up raiding it for parts for a new project bike I just got. My jump bike is running sweet though (I should probably make a new video with it as it doesn't feature on my channel yet!) so if you wanted to ride somewhere that would be ok for a single speed, one brake, 13" framed dirt jump bike then I'm game!
