I make videos about various types of technology. Starting with what’s on-hand and growing from there. Hopefully you find the information helpful and entertaining! What's with my channel name and banner? It's inspired from a scene in an anime called "Sakamoto desu ga?" ("Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto" or "坂本ですが?") where he says "NASA, I suppose..." when questioned about where he will go next. In my case I wanted to make general technology videos that didn't fit well with my others. KZread is very genre based.

Glad to see nvidia dominating. Hopefully AMD exits gpu market
If it comes to AMD GPUs it's not the price. It's the people who buy GPUs. Horror stories about AMD that are not even true or no different from Nvidia problems make them artificially less appealing.
Yeah, I guess it depends. I'm not much of a gamer. At least for me the price difference of an RX 7600 wasn't enough considering tests I had seen. Overall similar raster performance but less efficient. I care about how much heat I'm adding to the room my PC is in. Lower quality video encoder/decoder hardware (before AMD apparently updated its quality from a news article I saw). Then there's aspects like software and AI use cases where Nvidia tends to have more universal support. While 8GB of VRAM really limits this use case I can easily mess around with 7b parameter local LLMs. Not even sure what AMD's current support for this use case is.
used i7 8700 and i5 11400 is about 70-80 dollars . they run even 4080 ... i7 6700 is crap...runs at 2133
Yeah, I assume those are nice options for some people. An extra 2 cores of the 8700 would be nice. Sadly my motherboard only supports up to the i7-7700K, which is 4 cores like mine and would have cost around $100. Benchmarking comparison sites list it as 16% faster. I'd be tempted to do it for a video but I doubt I'd get enough people interested in watching it to justify the expense. This channel is a long way from getting into the KZread Partner Program (1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours). At some point I want to upgrade the CPU/RAM/Motherboard all at once with current generation components. Maybe 7000 or 9000 series AMD.
@@TECHiSuppose 7700k is dead...i3 10100 , i5 8500 cost 30 dollar and run way better than 7700!, native 2700 mhz

It was available for a long time, they re-released it when the GPU shortages hit around the time of the Nvidia 3000 series.

Man I was trying to figure out what was crashing my computer and came across your video. You've brought me peace of mind for now 😅
Glad it was useful! Hopefully you can get things sorted out. 🙏
Love my 4080 super
Win 7 is totally fine. I have to use win 10 on the work PC, but my main PC is still win 7 and will stay that way as long as possible. No security issues, and I almost never have to update the adblocking stack for youtube.
the real issue is that Nvidia invents or buys something new then spends endless cash helping game devs adopt it as a new standard thing for all their games then refuses to license it out to other manufacturers like an actual standard should be licensed. so when it comes time to buy a new card people have to choose between having all the technologies now pretty much standard in all games or not or maybe some less effective imitation.
Yeah, that's one factor for sure. DLSS vs. competing technologies at least so far it's often a higher quality result. Based on tests I've seen early on Nvidia and Intel's AV1 hardware encoding was higher quality for a given bitrate compared to AMD, but AMD did update it and claimed a quality improvement so not sure on its current state. Same situation for performance vs. power use which I factored in when considering the RTX 4060 versus an RX 7600. At least at the time the RX 7600 had the same drawbacks as the 4060 like being only PCI-E 8x and having 8GB of VRAM but nothing better at a $30 difference. Not enough of a price difference for me to go AMD. Had AMD done something like more VRAM or literally anything to make it more appealing than ~$30 I would have considered it.
Windows 7 was dropped from steam in 2024. I'm surprised it's on the list at all heh.
To recommend AMD to make their cards more appealing is crazy because it beats Nvidia in price to performance, the software is amazing and friendly to new commers and depending on the manufacture very cool looking cards. People have been force fed lies these last 3-4 years saying nothing good and continuing the age-old stigma of AMD. I went from a 1650 super to a rx6600 to now my current rx7900xt. Guys wake up Nvidia doesn't care about the gamers they never did and now with fsr 3.1 which can be used on older AMD and Nvidia cards, (keep in mind dlss doesnt work for older cards just to force you to pay for their newer hardware) what's the point of paying extra for raytracing when you got to use dlss to get somewhat of a decent performance to use it. On paper in raw rasterization performance AMD is the choice to go. We need to rid AMD of that old old old stigma.
I like the video though good job brother keep up the good work, this is just my rant of the day lol
Crazy, but if they were actually appealing enough then they'd have a larger market share, right?
@@TECHiSuppose 100% But you also gotta look at the era in which they were introduced and which played a huge factor in why their market share is so big plus AMD had a really rocky start for a while. But they aren't what they used to be for a very long time.
I just like team green
40 series wasn't enough of a bump in performance in my opinion for a lot of 30 series owners to upgrade, especially with how expensive the cards have gotten. I know a lot more professionals who upgraded specifically to 4080's and 4090's than I do gamers who had 20 and 30 series cards and quite a few who moved to AMD.
Very true, 30 series finally got appealing after all of the shortages and scalping. The hype and desire for GPUs back then was nuts but increased that generation's market share. I wanted AV1 hardware encode/decode which is really the main reason why I went current gen. (Plus the 4060 is surprisingly efficient and I like quiet cool running stuff)
I mean it's a bump of performance but only for the top tier expensive gpus (4070 onwards), if only the 4060 had the power from the 3070 it would be so much different...
2025 is the year of intel arc
Let's hope! Battlemage sounds cool and I'm into D&D so I want to see it succeed just for that reason alone, lol.
my goodness when took a look at it too....I am glad to see the good old gtx 1060 up there....I will say the 10xx card are really good for it time and longevity
Yep, the combination of features and price for its time explains why the GTX 1060 6GB was so popular for so long. 👍
Weird tho. I consider AMD card being a good price/performance compared to the overpriced NVIDIA cards. They dont reach the power of NVIDIA but they are good for the price.
Weird tho. it’s almost like what you consider to be reality doesn’t matter, isn’t that crazy how your personal opinion on a situation doesn’t have any influence on the reality of the situation?
@@flankman9385 The reality is Nvidia has decades of mindshare, and influence in the industry that isn't going to be broken anytime soon even if AMD sold cards below their profit margin.
🤔 Maybe, but I personally think there is more to it. I think they had a big opportunity with Nvidia's lack of effort in 40 series but haven't capitalized on it amazingly well. Though the 7700xt, 7800xt, and GRE are probably one of the best deals right now.
Not really that suprising. The price difference wasnt that big for awhile and the NVIDIA was worth the slight premium. I bought NVIDIA because I play 4K and without DLSS it would be a nightmare
Interesting - so 40 series graphics cards are nowhere near the most in use cards out there!
Looks like it. They haven't had as much time on the market so maybe that's part of it as well, but there is already rumor talk of the 5000 series. At least in the USA part of it could be the recent economic downturn and inflation making 4000 series too expensive for many.
i was surprised how little representation AMD has. I own a 6700 xt and the thing is a beast, i think around 35% faster than a 3060 for gaming but for AI stuff, it certainly is butt cheeks vs 3060 12 gb.

Resizable BAR reduces performance in most applications. For example, in Superposition, MSI RTX 4060 GamingX gets 21655 with Resizable BAR ON and 22065 with Resizable BAR OFF. In games like Senua's Saga Hellblade II, the differences between PCIe 3.0 and PCIe 4.0 (I7 4790K vs I5 12400F) are insignificant.

I am using a Gigabyte ga-z170 (2016) old mobo. Can i still place a 4060 on it? And get a little improvement?
What CPU and how much RAM? Do you use a SSD drive? The Intel i7-6700 CPU based does see benefit, but there are situations where the system is CPU limited.
Will it work on S24 Ultra?
You'd have to search Amazon or wherever for a screen protector for you exact phone make and model.
hello bro, l need to know what is the best gpu for the i7 6700 , without bottleneck ?! thank you
I have done a bit more testing with a 4060 after this. There are a some situations where it will be bottlenecked. I doubt buying anything faster would be worthwhile.
Glad I saw your vid. I have my 1060 6Gb to compare though I’m tempted by the 4070, the super and it’s Ti variants
Benefit depends on the rest of your system by far at that point. A 4070 Ti would probably be significantly faster when it's unhindered than this 4060, so CPU and other components make more of a difference.
Dream controller
Yeah, it does work well on Windows computers!
I'm hoping to get an rtx 4060 soon I'm going to pair it with an i5 8500 and I might possibly get an i5 8700k before I buy a new motherboard but it will be interesting in games to see how frame generation will work against CPU bottlenecks as I've heard this feature sometimes alleviates it
it should also be noted that in like maybe a year i will probably fully upgrade my motherboard and cpu fully
I'm not sure if DLSS helps there, but you will likely see improvements. I've been playing a game called "POOLS" that has DLSS and it definitely has better performance with DLSS on. I also have a bunch of benchmark data for the ASUS 4060 Proart I bought after returning this Gigabyte card, but it's challenging going through the data to make a video on it. For this new video, if I'm able to do it, will have information on 4k as well as 1080p because I found a way to do that even though I have a 1080p screen (I used my Atomos Ninja V HDMI recorder that can handle 4k as a passthrough). I've seen some CPU limitations in the data at 1080p so far with games like Final Fantasy 14 Online (FFXIV benchmark). That i5-8500 should be at least 10% faster than the CPU I'm using.
@@TECHiSuppose yeah I have read in a few places that frame generation can also help with cpu limited frames aswell as gpu limited frames so it should be interesting I will be sure to give your video a watch when it comes
I still used this cpu faithful 9 years later but I need a gpu to render 2k &4k footage . Since I'm not a gamer mysetup is fine.
Yeah, it's been good enough for a long time!
I found the RTX 3050 6GB to be an excellent solution for systems with 300-350 Watt power supplies. I know a lot of negative has been said about it but for a max 70 Watt draw it delivers the goods for 1080P gaming.
That makes sense! Though the RAM amount is the same as the 1060 6GB in this video I'd imagine it's a nice overall performance bump with extras like RTX.

🙏 Thanks for the video.
I'm glad the video was useful to you!
Dose it bottleneck?
I don't have anything else to provide outside of what was covered in the video. It is possible there are some bottlenecks considering the old i7-6700 CPU. If we are talking higher resolutions it is possible that the GPU could be a limitation before the CPU would be, but it would depend on how CPU intensive a game is with other compute heavy tasks like AI, world physics, and other non rendering tasks in games.
hi do you know if is possible to rotate north to south? i mean left to right he can but it also possible to rotate the vertical side?? thank you in case of any help
The screen does not move left to right from its base. It does tilt upward and downward from whatever vertical position it is set at.
It's not so important that the 4060 have a gen 4 connection, but it does need resizable bar to do its best. Not having resizable bar will cost you about 10% of the card's abilities. It's not as critical as with the Intel cards, but it does still matter. Subscribed, BTW.
Glad the video was enjoyable for you! I have a ASUS Proart 4060 now and would like to do another video, but the card disappeared from Amazon making it kinda pointless to make a video about a card people can't buy. Hopefully it's a temporary thing.

I have the same setup as you. I upgraded from a 1050ti to a 4060, and I can feel a huge improvement. I researched information about bottlenecking on Reddit, and almost all of them said it's not a good idea to pair the 4060 with my 8-year-old CPU (i7 6700). Anyway, in my case, I still encounter a bottleneck in some games (for example, Battlefield 2042 or Battlefront 2), but it's not a big deal for me. My 4060 is still running at around 70-90%. So, I guess with this setup, I'll still have a good time with my 8-year-old PC for another 2-4 years.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad it worked out for you. Yeah, I think the RTX 4060 basically caps out the i7-6700 in many cases at 1080p. I don't play many games, but I usually use v-sync so I'm limited to 75 fps based on my monitor meaning the 4060 vs 1060 gives me a more consistent experience on the old CPU/RAM/MB. Its frustrating that Nvidia limited this card to 8GB of RAM and a 128-bit memory bus, but AMD is doing the same thing and uses more power. Intel ARC has even higher power use and a apparently a large performance drop on old systems without pcie resizable bar support. We've got limited options.
Planning to do the same, so it worth it?! Since i dont mind not having using its 100% potential I can update other specs later

Editing has nothing to do with the monitor's resolution. You can edit any resolution video your editing software supports, but you won't be able to view the video at 1:1 full resolution because it is a 1080p screen.
Thanks

Thanks for the video. I have the same setup as you. I'm thinking of upgrading to the 4060 but I'll probably end up getting the ti version but I do need to upgrade my 6700 but then again I don't really
I think the CPU/MB/RAM/SSD upgrade depends on what you do and how smooth of an experience you want there. Plus, how much money you have to spend. I'm not sure what the performance delta is between the standard and ti version is. I don't know if the the i7-6700 would be able to serve a 4060ti enough data to the card to benefit over a standard 4060. Though, whatever you get it could be an intermediate update before upgrading the entire computer. So in that case anything would work (the more future performance the better). Another quirk of the 4060 series and amd rx 7600 is that they have 8x pci-e instead of 16x lanes at, I think, version 4 but i7-6000 series CPU motherboards would be version 3, so we are losing bandwidth. Not sure if it is much performance in real world scenarios. It will be a while, but I plan on doing another video with the 4060 I bought after sending the low profile card back. My screens are 1080p, but I have a hdmi recorder/display that can capture 4k so I might be able to test at that resolution in this video.
