Super video. From Chennai, India. Thanks
So nice of you
My index finger is stubborn. Love the index finger exercise. Reminds me if how Vengerov does smooth bow changes at frog?
Great observation!
This is a wonderful video and finally explains what each finger does. This is the hardest thing to understand about playing this instrument. Well done and thank you !!!
Happy to help!
I was trying to look at other videos from you can could not find any? Do you have more advise for learning to play violin
I’ll be putting out more content on the violin technique soon.
Your video has provided me with the best understanding of holding the violin bow. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
This is nice 👌
Thanks!
Wow ,H5 way better for my ear🙌🏻
Listening this with studio noise cancelling headphones the difference was very remarkable, quickly realized that the H5 sounds nice and great quality, but everytime it switched to H6 I could not ignore the difference in depth. The H5 sounds pretty compressed when compared with H6, and the H6 showed wider sound depth, if that makes sense.
H6 has smoother sound and better sound imaging. Batteries also have an impact on sound quality. I use lithium rechargeable batteries. Ni-mh batteries sound bad. By the way, the rubber around H6 case will start to melt after a few years of use.
Thank you for contributing!

What about NS? kzread.info/dash/bejne/nXh5sqWIZJexcZs.html
I believe many people already knew this exercises but for me it's the first time that I really understand the purpose of these exercises. Thank you.
Hi, I am glad that I was able to communicate that well! Good luck with your journey!
Is a baroque bow hold different than modern bow hold?
Excellent question! Yes it is different. Development of the modern bow opened so many possibilities in terms of sound that the only way to truly utilize its potential was to develop a new bow holds.
Loved the pinkie exercise!
So glad!
Clear and easy to follow directions, thank you!
You're welcome!
Nice teaching!
Thank you 😊
Thank you, for exercises especially :)
I am glad you like them! Let me know how they are working out for you in few weeks :)
This video made me smile, love your humor, and hair haha good info as well)
Yay, thank you!
I love how creative, clear, and insightful your lessons are. Love them! 🎻🎶
Thanks so much!
Very helpful and well explained.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the comparison, maybe the Rode is clearer, but I didn’t feel the dimensional effect as a stereo mic vs the Zoom H5, which is the most important thing for me in my case.
for me the yamaha had the sound that I liked the most, although on the fast notes I dont know if its because of the instruments design, felt like you would have to be way more extra careful not to disrupt the sound of the notes, sorry for my bad english. the last one was okay but Idk why i didnt like the sound, I dont know how to describe it but it was a little anoying. the fist one was just okay.
Fair enough!

@@theviolintech7632 Aha , dzięki , pozdrawiam
I think the Zoom H-5 gave the most accurate stereo image and room sound. I'm very impressed with how good the Zoom H-5 sounded considering that I own 1 with the same X-Y microphone. I'm listening with my newer Kali Audio LP-6 Version 2 monitor speakers. When you have a great sounding instrument. It's not hard to make it sound good with most microphones.
hehe! Thank you! I subscribe. :) is both machines Zoom H5 & H6 do an automatic mix of all the mics?
Yes they are!
Great video! I am recording a small orchestral arrangement soon (4-7 piece arrangement) and I have no idea where to set up my mics! I have a pair of rode m5’s in an ORTF formation and also the zoom h5 for backup. Can anybody help me out!? Thanks everyone.
The important bit was completely ommited, and that is the winding of the stringafter it is put in the peg hole👎
msi i would give you one for this review
U did ya thing with the violin u made me put in both my AirPods 😆
I always wanted to have Yamaha SV 255, Never played electric before.. would I regret if I buy one? I rarely play on stage, its more for me to enjoy, and do practice silently in the apartment I stay, and the direct headset connectivity are all plus points for me and ofcourse its so cool to look at.. I would want someone who tried it to tell me if Im going to make a bad choice..
Yamaha is a great product. With your needs I wouldn’t hesitate and get it!
Thank you!!!
Interesting. Thank you
Bartoook
How in the world does something that eats four batteries in 20 hours "win" over something that eats four batteries in 30 hours?
Great! 😊
I haven't had the time to play in months so now my strings are all out of whack so now I have to tune it with the pegs
Great video. With a decent set of headphones, I think the difference in sound quality is quite marked between the two, with the H5 sounding much thinner generally and the H6 having much more body and "grit" to the sound. Shame, as I've just bought the H5 before I found your video. Now I'm kinda regretting that choice.
C'est extrêmement laid, et ça demande quand même XX années de pratique...
I can't understand why you didn''t even mention the nasty harmonics coming from the Yamaha, especially the C string. I think you made the wrong choice. As far as sound quality is concerned the Glasser is by far the best although I don't particularly like the "cool" look. Give it some reverb and it could even sound like the real thing in electric mode. Does it come in a wood finish?
Note that you can power both of these recorders with a USB power bank for hours of additional recording.
i still am scared to tune it because i can hesr the pegs tighting
There is a difference between H5 and H6 in sound. It lies in the fact that at high and medium frequencies the H6 gives a little more volume. BUT! This is such a small difference.... Besides, today the sound is processed, and you can adjust the sound. Here the question is no longer “how much the quality differs.” Here the question is rather on a different plane - “how different are the timbres of H5 and H6”. Yes, there is a difference. But the difference in sound volume between the timbres is +-10%. I don't think it's worth it. Both recorders have amazing sound, don’t worry about it too much) I listen to it on high-quality isodynamic headphones. And yes, the H5 runs for 15 hours on 2 batteries, and the H6 runs for 20 hours on 4 batteries. This means that having 4 batteries with H5 you can work for 30 hours (15 + 15), and with H6 - only 20. And if you want to increase the battery life, you need to have 8 batteries for H6, and this is not enough. ..) 8 batteries for H5 is 15+15+15+15+60 hours of battery life. And for H6 it is only 40. Therefore, H5 is more energy efficient.
twice as many batteries, but only 33% increase in time is not better battery life... great review! thank you!! going h5.
Agree with The Violin Tech, but... Rhode needs more sound sterile environment. I can hear to much echoes and reflections. In the soundproofed studio Rhode may be a great choice. But in this test for me XY capsule on to Zoom recorder sounds best. IMHO Zoom with his price corresponding to the flexibility and quality are the best choice @ this test.
I just broke my violin string 💀
Help me yall
Thanks so for this. I need to record operatic voice performances and decided for the H6 which had a narrower swing on the tone and warmer timbre on your violin. It delivered warmth in mid to low ranges and roundness in the higher registers. It also offers the opportunity to set separate mics for voice and multiple instruments.
Beautiful playing Sir! Difference in sound is so minute, I couldn't tell. Thank you for this comparison.
Interesting... The iPhone sounds "tighter..." like the image is more constrained. The Rode lets me hear the internal air of the instrument a little better.
I've been deliberating on this purchase for a while now; this is a great break down. Thank you!
How about Indian Carnatic violinist
