    Listening this with studio noise cancelling headphones the difference was very remarkable, quickly realized that the H5 sounds nice and great quality, but everytime it switched to H6 I could not ignore the difference in depth. The H5 sounds pretty compressed when compared with H6, and the H6 showed wider sound depth, if that makes sense.

    H6 has smoother sound and better sound imaging. Batteries also have an impact on sound quality. I use lithium rechargeable batteries. Ni-mh batteries sound bad. By the way, the rubber around H6 case will start to melt after a few years of use.

    Is a baroque bow hold different than modern bow hold?

  • @theviolintech7632
    @theviolintech76323 ай бұрын

    Excellent question! Yes it is different. Development of the modern bow opened so many possibilities in terms of sound that the only way to truly utilize its potential was to develop a new bow holds.

    for me the yamaha had the sound that I liked the most, although on the fast notes I dont know if its because of the instruments design, felt like you would have to be way more extra careful not to disrupt the sound of the notes, sorry for my bad english. the last one was okay but Idk why i didnt like the sound, I dont know how to describe it but it was a little anoying. the fist one was just okay.

    I think the Zoom H-5 gave the most accurate stereo image and room sound. I'm very impressed with how good the Zoom H-5 sounded considering that I own 1 with the same X-Y microphone. I'm listening with my newer Kali Audio LP-6 Version 2 monitor speakers. When you have a great sounding instrument. It's not hard to make it sound good with most microphones.

    I always wanted to have Yamaha SV 255, Never played electric before.. would I regret if I buy one? I rarely play on stage, its more for me to enjoy, and do practice silently in the apartment I stay, and the direct headset connectivity are all plus points for me and ofcourse its so cool to look at.. I would want someone who tried it to tell me if Im going to make a bad choice..

    Great video. With a decent set of headphones, I think the difference in sound quality is quite marked between the two, with the H5 sounding much thinner generally and the H6 having much more body and "grit" to the sound. Shame, as I've just bought the H5 before I found your video. Now I'm kinda regretting that choice.

    I can't understand why you didn''t even mention the nasty harmonics coming from the Yamaha, especially the C string. I think you made the wrong choice. As far as sound quality is concerned the Glasser is by far the best although I don't particularly like the "cool" look. Give it some reverb and it could even sound like the real thing in electric mode. Does it come in a wood finish?

    There is a difference between H5 and H6 in sound. It lies in the fact that at high and medium frequencies the H6 gives a little more volume. BUT! This is such a small difference.... Besides, today the sound is processed, and you can adjust the sound. Here the question is no longer “how much the quality differs.” Here the question is rather on a different plane - “how different are the timbres of H5 and H6”. Yes, there is a difference. But the difference in sound volume between the timbres is +-10%. I don't think it's worth it. Both recorders have amazing sound, don’t worry about it too much) I listen to it on high-quality isodynamic headphones. And yes, the H5 runs for 15 hours on 2 batteries, and the H6 runs for 20 hours on 4 batteries. This means that having 4 batteries with H5 you can work for 30 hours (15 + 15), and with H6 - only 20. And if you want to increase the battery life, you need to have 8 batteries for H6, and this is not enough. ..) 8 batteries for H5 is 15+15+15+15+60 hours of battery life. And for H6 it is only 40. Therefore, H5 is more energy efficient.

    Agree with The Violin Tech, but... Rhode needs more sound sterile environment. I can hear to much echoes and reflections. In the soundproofed studio Rhode may be a great choice. But in this test for me XY capsule on to Zoom recorder sounds best. IMHO Zoom with his price corresponding to the flexibility and quality are the best choice @ this test.

    Thanks so for this. I need to record operatic voice performances and decided for the H6 which had a narrower swing on the tone and warmer timbre on your violin. It delivered warmth in mid to low ranges and roundness in the higher registers. It also offers the opportunity to set separate mics for voice and multiple instruments.
