I agree.. although a pro would do a hack of a lot better and especially faster than my diy.. that said i was able to smooth the walls myself i safe on big expenses leaving budget for all those other renovating projects around the house. Using the roller and a decent skimming blade lays down the mud smooth and efficient...

Great idea. Definitely going to try this. I do have a problem , there is some remaining wallpaper from perhaps the 1960's that seems tight except where I was able to scrape off the edges. Do you think the paper will bubble if I used this as a skim coat to fill in old plaster walls?

I wonder what it's like when you do this on a textured wall. This wall is already smooth.

Damn bro I was gonna buy the Festool dust extractor and planex 2 sander but your work is clean af with the hilti. You still recommend the hilti setup? Im looking for dustless sanding and a dust extractor that can keep up with the drywall clogging it up. I do a lot of patch work on both ceilings and walls but it’s inside homes where people live and drywall dust can be an issue for me.

Yeah, I too am curious how this is performing 1 year later. It seems like drywall sanding would be a real test of this units longevity and self cleaning feature and it seems like it is up to the task from what you described. I saw another video complaining that there are metal cables inside the canister that rip open dust bags. Would be nice to verify if that is actually a problem. I know you don't use bags but I probably would for what I do. I like Hilti. I think you are buying into the dust extraction system Hilti has when buying this tool to some degree since their tools are designed to work together. Like if I had this vacuum and I needed a drywall sander I would probably buy Hilti. I'm not a fan of the way the Festool dust extractor looks. It's not my thing. Very bulky. Similar suction to this with similar features. I'm primarily a hardwood floor guy. Lots of wood dust everywhere! So I am looking for a high end vacuum to help cut down on some of that dust throughout the process. I already have a good backpack vac but the storage capacity on that thing is pretty minimal.

For the amount of work that we do and the insane usage hours this dust extractor sees. This thing has been an absolute work horse for a little over 2 YEARS! The only issue I've had is the on board electrical outlet got worn down too much but hilti will replace for free if it's within warranty time. It became a little loose. Other than that I honestly could not expect more for the beatings these machines get everyday. Still strong and I probably change filters every six months and don't really clean the filters I let the machine do it's job. I honestly wouldn't even think about using dust bags because it's probably cheaper to replace filters once a week for us than to buy bags. I would however use the plastic bags to make it cleaner to dump the dust out. Other than that these machines are super reliable and would definitely recommend if you are doing some heavy duty work these things are tanks

Thanks for the video I was looking at the festool ct26, but now I’m going with the hilti vc 150-6xe because of the size, cfm, and the auto clean. I have one question, can you adjust the cfm from the vacuum? It looks like it has a power control. Thanks brother 👍
