Can I use a 24 inch Taping Knife to skim coat or does i have to use a skim coat Knife
Do you use a backing pad?
Hey buddy . Have you sanded down popcorn ceilings with this unit? I like the size of this unit also.
I agree.. although a pro would do a hack of a lot better and especially faster than my diy.. that said i was able to smooth the walls myself i safe on big expenses leaving budget for all those other renovating projects around the house. Using the roller and a decent skimming blade lays down the mud smooth and efficient...
Him: “It’s real easy” Me: *Makes wall look like complete shit*
Great idea. Definitely going to try this. I do have a problem , there is some remaining wallpaper from perhaps the 1960's that seems tight except where I was able to scrape off the edges. Do you think the paper will bubble if I used this as a skim coat to fill in old plaster walls?
I’m just a girl fixing up my room and this hella helped me. Thank youuuu 🤝🏽
I wonder what it's like when you do this on a textured wall. This wall is already smooth.
Can i use a ridgid hose?
bro I'm going to watch this like 12 more times before I do my living room
🤯
You know they're good when they make it look easy. Good job!
keep in mind he is working on basically an already perfect wall...i often deal with old walls that have tons of bulges and dips and it does not work easily like this whatsoever
I bought both of these based on your videos. Curious how you are connecting these two to each other? Am I missing an adapter or something?
Damn bro I was gonna buy the Festool dust extractor and planex 2 sander but your work is clean af with the hilti. You still recommend the hilti setup? Im looking for dustless sanding and a dust extractor that can keep up with the drywall clogging it up. I do a lot of patch work on both ceilings and walls but it’s inside homes where people live and drywall dust can be an issue for me.
3ft skim knife with handle on large areas.
Thank you for a "not in your face" easy to watch tutorial. It was a pleasure to watch to the end.
Watching this video with headphones is like ASMR 🟠⚫
How much water would you say to add
Cool
Thanks I'm doing this and your video was by far the most helpful and up close view
GREAT thanks
This is a great video! Short, and packed full of expert tips. Thanks!
That is the hard slow inefficient way to solid skim this guy must be a painter and needs to stick to painting his drywall work is not good
Too much coke. All that sniffing
Perfect?? You can’t bullshit a bullshitter..lol
Don't you use sand papers to smooth the wall
thank you!
I really like the texture of that roller. Looks better than orange peel imo
So that is how it is done! Excellent video demonstration. I just showed this to my dry wall finishers and told them to match your quality or go home.
Will it work on a textured wall?

Why everyone think this is level5 when there are only 4 levels of quality and 4th is layer made by spray....this is level 3
Yeah, I too am curious how this is performing 1 year later. It seems like drywall sanding would be a real test of this units longevity and self cleaning feature and it seems like it is up to the task from what you described. I saw another video complaining that there are metal cables inside the canister that rip open dust bags. Would be nice to verify if that is actually a problem. I know you don't use bags but I probably would for what I do. I like Hilti. I think you are buying into the dust extraction system Hilti has when buying this tool to some degree since their tools are designed to work together. Like if I had this vacuum and I needed a drywall sander I would probably buy Hilti. I'm not a fan of the way the Festool dust extractor looks. It's not my thing. Very bulky. Similar suction to this with similar features. I'm primarily a hardwood floor guy. Lots of wood dust everywhere! So I am looking for a high end vacuum to help cut down on some of that dust throughout the process. I already have a good backpack vac but the storage capacity on that thing is pretty minimal.
For the amount of work that we do and the insane usage hours this dust extractor sees. This thing has been an absolute work horse for a little over 2 YEARS! The only issue I've had is the on board electrical outlet got worn down too much but hilti will replace for free if it's within warranty time. It became a little loose. Other than that I honestly could not expect more for the beatings these machines get everyday. Still strong and I probably change filters every six months and don't really clean the filters I let the machine do it's job. I honestly wouldn't even think about using dust bags because it's probably cheaper to replace filters once a week for us than to buy bags. I would however use the plastic bags to make it cleaner to dump the dust out. Other than that these machines are super reliable and would definitely recommend if you are doing some heavy duty work these things are tanks
Do you prime the walls first before applying the skim coat
Wow tip top !!
I skimmed a wall last night. In my mind, I'm such a pro. In reality, I really need to knock that wall down, now. What a mess. Will give it a second professional coat tomorrow.
seriously, I feel the same way. It is difficult to say the least, and not one of my funner home DIY projects
Thank you you gave me the answer to my puzzle as fixing my ceiling my wife stepped through and need to get that finish to match. Cheers mate
Excellent
Can you this over painted wall? I hate the orange peel on those walls?
😅😅😅😅
roll the corners of the trowel up a bit...it won't make lines.....can it be dissolved this plaster with water while it is already dry on the wall?
how has it been holding up?
I’m in the process of trying to “attempt” this. Hate textured walls 🤮 lol. You did amazing btw!!! ❤
How much are you guys charging to set up like that and go that slow ? Honest question I feel like I’m busting my ass to get a low ball bid from contractors lol I’m also barely starting out
Have to slow down to make video. In real life we smoke most companies in the area
I was gonna skim my bedroom but its the setup , sanding and dust that are the problem. Im just going to pay someone to come in with all the vacuum sanding gear and knock it out. ive done othe rooms and got a great finish but its just too messy.
Can this all-purpose premixed joint compound be applied to semi-gloss paint?
Thanks for the video I was looking at the festool ct26, but now I’m going with the hilti vc 150-6xe because of the size, cfm, and the auto clean. I have one question, can you adjust the cfm from the vacuum? It looks like it has a power control. Thanks brother 👍
Little more different over top orange peel
Excellent demostration in under 8 minutes. Thanks for taking the time to post this video.
