    For people having overheating issues... the fan control module located on the the fan shroud is known to short out. This will stop your fans from running. Proper diagnosis will let you know if that is the problem. I spent a whole day going over the car with a power probe and mutlimeter checking fuses and relays so i hope this helps save someone else a headache

    The service warning light only stays on for a couple of minutes after the car is started or the ignition is on. Doesn't stay on permanently like a check engine light.

    I ran out of fuel an I’m not sure how I bleed the system in my captiva

  • @captivalife
    @captivalife2 ай бұрын

    Once you have refilled with fuel, you need to turn the engine over for a few seconds, turn it off, wait a couple of seconds then start again, repeat that a couple of times that will clear any air in the fuel line.

    DO NOT use WD-40 On the door hinges!! Use an appropriate lubricant, not a water dispersant. Lithium grease would be more suitable, WD-40 is too light and too thin to be of any benefit.

    I purchased a Holden scanning tool for $250 from China. Gives you GDS2 functionality so you have full native access to everything in the car. I'm not trying to advertise it. It's just that i spent a few hundred on other generic scanners and lots of headache trying to make them work with the car. For example i tried doing a throttle calibration and of course the old tool failed halfway through. So i was left with a potentially dangerous throttle programming.

    Doesn’t show one of most important checks, the transmission fluid!!!

  • @limczo8966
    @limczo89662 ай бұрын

    Service manual says automatic trans 6T45 in Captivas has lifetime fluid, but it has 60,000 kms fluid change interval ! Failing to do so causes major damage to transmission at low mileage. Same applies to rear differential and transfer case on 4x4 models, for which you should also replace fluids frequently ! There is never a lifetime fill.

    My Captiva 2015 LTZ diesel is making this weird knocking tuk tuk tuk sound once warmed up. When driving it's not noticed or heard only when you stop at red lights etc it's quite noticeable and annoying specially with music off. I have seen many videos on net , some saying knocking sensor, some says they replaced injector etc but issue still there, some says clean up wiring module connectors under black engine cover it has fixed there issue. Can you please advice?

  • @captivalife
    @captivalife9 ай бұрын

    It could be the alternator pulley if it only makes a sound at idle. Use a funnel attached to a long screwdriver to diagnose where the noise is coming from.

  • @rickyaman
    @rickyaman9 ай бұрын

    @captivalife cheers man, really appreciate your reply kzread.info/dash/bejne/oKycqqOLc8yoac4.html This is the exact sound, I got this from net not my captiva but this is the issue annoying me from 1 year or so 😒

  • @captivalife
    @captivalife9 ай бұрын

    @@rickyaman in that video it sounds like the clicking noise that the alternator pulley makes. The pulley is not a fixed pulley it has a clutch mechanism on it. This should be easy for a mechanic to diagnose if that is where the vibration is coming from.
