I am about 40% English and 40% Nordic (mostly Danish). However, my da was strongly pro-Irish and so, since age 13, I've been studying Ireland and sing lots of Irish music. I have a joke that I love to watch the English while I pretend to sight a rifle. Then I will say I like to take pictures of the English while pretending to pull the trigger. I tend to sing this song with a vicious growl that makes people think me a little tainted in the head and make them just a wee bit nervous (gross understatement). In truth I am manic-depressive which is an illness characterized by its powerful emotions. I first heard this song on an audiocassette in Casablanca, Morocco in 90'-91'. This is the first I knew of the group who sings it on that cassette.

This is Catholic song. He talked about the Irish rock in reference to the famous outdoor mass rocks, being the altar of a Catholic mass, being the altar on which Christ, the Son of God, Our blessed Lord Himself is immolated, and very present in the Holy Eucharist. So that’s why for an Irish, you would absolutely not let anyone disgrace an Irish rock.

  • @gerardodwyer5908

Amadán. The period covered here is the 15th century. Gaelic Ireland didn't identify as "catholics" but as Christians linked to the Church of Rome. The mass rocks became "a thing" after the introduction of the genocide driven Penal Laws against "practitioners of the Roman faith" in the 17th century. Read a history book or two bubba. DUP?

@@pavelstaravoitau7106 Quite the opposite! I am one of those people who very much supports fighting off invaders and creating a nation state. Unfortunately, Ireland has missed that boat. This is a fantastic song. I am an atheist and don't care about him believing in angels. His wife is one of his angels is how I look at it. Craig Morgan just makes good "regular guy" music. I remember church and weddings with this song being sang and also played. :) Plus the "midnight sky is a blanket of stars and the moon" is just absolutely PERFECT wielding of the poetry in the whole song.
