    This video was removed from TikTok for violating community guidelines. (Dangerous activities and challenges) I am frustrated by this because I don't understand what I am doing dangerously. I'm not speeding or driving stupid in any way and my camera was strapped to my head. There is exhaust noise and that is it. I think the community guidelines over at Tiktok need some adjustments.

    If trukies did the right thing ,,would be no need for safety ramps.

  • @jasedrivessa
    @jasedrivessa3 ай бұрын

    I do not disagree. Pushing the boundaries and taking risks are usually the cause. You'd have to be extremely unlucky to need a safety ramp based on mechanical failure alone.

    That Barina is a perfect example of what we put up with on single lane highways. They cannot be behind the truck at all costs, they'll pass illegally only to slow back down to 85-90. Then as soon as the overtaking lane comes up they magically start doing 105, but only once you're right next to them coming towards the end of the overtaking lane.

    In a loaded B double, is 40km/h safe? I haven't gone down that hill yet, but I told myself if I ever do I would use the bottom box in 4 high range. So it might do about 25km/h or less.

  • @jasedrivessa
    @jasedrivessa4 ай бұрын

    Yeah, 25km/h sounds more reasonable. This video was taken in a Scania at 56.5 Tonnes. Scanias have unbelievable hill holding. With all the penalties that apply here, you are much better off being 1 gear too slow than 1 gear too high. The hill itself isn't that scary. The fines and consequences for getting it wrong are the scary bit.

  • @ESPSJ
    @ESPSJ4 ай бұрын

    @drivingsouthernaustralia perfect thank you for the advice. I always worried if I went too slow I'd force all the other trucks to overtake me and they can't use their brakes, but that's probably overthinking it.

  • @jasedrivessa
    @jasedrivessa4 ай бұрын

    @ESPSJ all good. Hope it helps. The no braking rule is a bit dumb because it makes people overthink.... Don't overthink the fines for things like braking. If you have a truck like mine doing 40km approaching your truck doing 25km and I can't safely change lanes to go around you. I'm braking. I do it often and it's completely safe because my brakes are cold and my braking is not excessive. The no braking rule is there to penalise those who want to run down the hill in the wrong gear to make up time, riding their brakes along the way only to realise that they can no longer stop in time for the red light at the bottom of the hill. It happens too often, so that's why these sometimes questionable laws apply. A bit of common sense and you'll get to the bottom of the hill wondering what all the fuss was about.

  • @ESPSJ
    @ESPSJ4 ай бұрын

    @@jasedrivessa That makes a lot of sense, thanks for clearing it up for me. It's funny that the authorities make pretty much zero attempts at educating people what the right thing to do is, most of their info about this hill and others just makes people overthink it, which usually leads to mistakes. When I did my MC license, it was so easy. In fact it was way too easy, which is concerning. No mention about downhill descents, among many other important things they don't teach.
