ok. so a while ago i joined this dnd campaign as a circle of the swamp druid group with a moral obligation to reduce, reuse, recycle everything. the party had already been adventuring for about a year when my first session took place, but one of our friends was over her character at that point, & seeing that we didn’t need a dedicated healer anymore, she decided “accidentally” to kill her character on an aoe spell i used during a battle. turns out someone saw this happen next session we got a letter from the courthouse & by my third session i was on trial for murder! luckily one of the two “witnesses” was a redbrand, which in the session prior to me joining, the party kinda stormed an important outpost of theirs or something, & the party had a good reputation (for the most part) plus the other witness was just a farmer who only partially saw what happened, so i just kept my mouth shut during the trial and let another party member act as my lawyer, which worked out well!

Yeah, just like my druid who carries around a bag full of skulls. Freshly cleaned skulls. Skulls the ranger kept giving to the druid after killing anyone in our way as a sign of friendship. We had to set a rule down for how many skulls a bag can carry because we all officially had, and I quote, "too many fucking skulls". It was 5, by the way, 5 skulls per bag.

The fact that I have a druid rouge that would admit they killed someone in that exact tone of voice in the middle of a trial just to piss the lawyer off. Is this just every druid and rouge, or just a few?

Back when I first got into 5e, one of my first PCs was a tiefling Druid using one of the book’s examples of the Outlander background where it says “I was in fact raised by wolves” cuz I always laugh at that line n tho I never repeat classes, I have played a lot of Outlanders. She knew she was a tiefling but didn’t realize her nonfiend half was human n thought she was actually a doggo who just happened to be really good at learning n to bark the way humanoids do. 😹She made a dagger n shield out of bones as well as a drum set from animal bones n skins back in her cave in the woods near Waterdeep. The concept of trade n the fact that people don’t like when u sniff their butts the second u meet them were pretty much the only 2 things she understood about civilization n only started following the party cuz she had never seen another tiefling before n stuck around cuz the party got a house super early on n the idea of a new pack (hers had died) n a “cave” inside the city where she could make new friends cuz turns out lots of people ain’t half bad (the tavern owner, her only friend prior to the party, wasn’t a fluke after all). She didn’t get that violence was frowned upon n had no concept of laws so she would’ve done the exact same in this moment so I find it extra hilarious that the Druid is a tiefling.

That personality trait is hilarious. I have a character with both that and the one about looking after people like pups, which synergizes well. She also has the fond of drink flaw, and is immune to poison these days, so she can get as drunk as she wants without hangover or alcohol poisoning- bonus fun. I also use outlander a lot, because it keeps being the best match for whatever I did for their backstory this time.

I have no idea what the original is from, but the drawing/animation is nice. Certainly a fun style. And yes, unhinged druids are a fun time. I played my first druid in our group's Strixhaven campaign. He was a Harengon Wildfire Druid. His wildfire spirit was a dog with 1930's gangster attire. The group once referred to him as "a criminally insane rabbit". He may have been a bit of a pyromaniac... (Bonus points if you know the reference for him)

Had this exact thing happen to one of my characters. I was a former noble turned oathbreaker paladin, while you can play Oathbreakers any way you want. Mine still upheld a moral code which, some might say is a BIT more chaotic. Say for example, someone was hurting a child. The paladin wouldn't simply tell the individual off, he would cut their hand clean off. He caught wind of a town guard (the group, not a single person) being corrupt, and abusing sex workers. The only reason he heard about this, was because at 2am a woman came to his door to ask for his help, and offered eternal service to help the girls. My Paladin essentially solo'd about six guards, because if you know anything about heavy armor, potions of speed, a great hammer, and a level six paladin you'd know they're absolute beasts when it comes to tanking blows. Apparently, one of the girls was threatened, and let it slip who murdered the guards. My parties Warlock decided to play lawyer at the trial. It was an amazing back and forth. Both the DM and Warlock had amazing and crappy rolls. When I was pronounced not guilty, I was asked since I could not be put on trial again, if I actually did it. My Paladin just went 'I made a personal commitment to protect those who couldn't protect themselves, regardless of if my god deemed them worthy. Yeah, I killed those men, and I'd do it again. Just because you do a job that society doesn't deem worthy, doesn't mean your life is worthless. Everyone has value in my heart, and I'll defend anyone if asked.' After that whole debacle, the woman quit her job as a sex worker, and came along with the party as a helper. I think at the end of the campaign if my remember correctly, my Paladin married her, and they had kids together. He opened up like a safe haven of sorts for anyone regardless of affiliation, race, or social status.
