  I am so furious with Miele for producing this design. Impossible to pull apart unless you have Torx screw drivers. Impossible to maintain properly. I would not recommend this product.

  ATTENTION TO: Miele Corporate, owners, dealers, technicians, and users. Miele, please fix this flaw to garner and retain future sales. Problem: The bag compartment lids on both of my Miele C3 vacuums will pull the bag out of the dock half way every single time it’s opened. So, if it isn’t properly re-seated, it won’t be aligned correctly when it is shut, and then the incoming dirt will bypass the bag and fill the compartment, motor, internals, etc. So, when you open the bag compartment, make sure you push the bag collar back down into the dock until it snaps in, especially if you are just checking the bag. When properly seated, there should be minimal to zero dust build up inside the compartment, virtually spotless. Get in the habit of reseating / seating the bag every time you open the bag compartment. It doesn’t have to be in all the way for the lid to shut, but if you shut it without the bag being properly seated, it can bend the dock, which leads to the same problem of dirt filling the compartment. If this has happened, the motor unit should be completely disassembled, all parts washed, dried, and reassembled with a new bag, new back dock, new pre-motor filter, and new exhaust filter. This ensures it won’t happen again due to a bent dock, and will restore performance and filtration efficiency. The unit should be tested afterwards to ensure the motor unit and bag compartment is properly sealed to Miele’s factory specifications. I also advise this to be done by an authorized Miele vacuum dealer and service center. This is one of the only flaws the Miele canister has. It’s unclear if this is a C3-only flaw or if other models are subject to the same problem. Dear Miele - please resolve this issue. It should save your company a good amount of money in the long run and lead to more future sales since there will be fewer unsatisfied customers. Unsatisfied, they’ll buy from another brand, tell others to not buy a Miele, which loses money in the long run. Dealers should be advised to demo this when selling new machines in store, but since more and more sales are online these days, this is becoming more likely to happen. It’s something easy to overlook and I doubt most people stop to think about it. It can be especially problematic in homes with toddlers who try to "play" with the vacuum after watching their parents use it. Maybe a child-proof lid lock would help, but even without kids, it still happens. My dealer did this to my C3 Brilliant, and it has never been the same. It put a bad taste in my mouth about Miele, even though the C3 is an overall fantastic unit. Doesn’t matter when dealers mess a machine up and refuse to fix their mistake. I never had a bad experience with my Rainbow dealer, who clearly had more integrity than the Miele dealer I took my business to.

  If I had guessed, this is another gimmick to make the Dyson look bad in favor to the Miele. I can tell that hardly any fluff and dirt went into the Dyson’s collection bin, something was obviously impeding the Dyson’s airflow! Salespeople are finding ways to fool hundreds if not thousands of unsuspecting consumers into buying their machines, and they just deny it every step of the way!

  0:55 That "bleed off" knob allows you to decrease powerhead suction while MINIMALLY affecting the turbine speed (brush). It's helpful for low pile carpets that the powerhead wants to suck onto and not allow you to push the powerhead. The suction bleed off that affects both suction AND the turbine speed is that slide panel on the handle of the vacuum itself. I've always wondered about how the dial on the powerhead actually worked. Took it apart and figured it out.

  Obviously no Miele engineer has a daughter at home. Why on earth would you make it so hard to clean the brush? With screw heads that most people don't have a screwdriver for.

  This is a really decent vacuum. The best feature is that, unlike most other vacuums, kzread.infoUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g this model does not throw debris backward when the brush is activated. Suction is decent and height levels can be adjusted. It does a great job of picking up pet hair and doesn't leave a perimeter of hair/fur where a rug meets a hardwood floor....if you know, you know.

  Thank you so much! I had to change the bag while my partner was out of town and couldn't figure out how to get the bag back in for the life of me. 90 seconds into the video I was able to retrieve the collar from the trash and my boyfriend will never know! 🎉

  Does the bag holder end prongs sit outside the casing - I think so but the holster appears to be loose and the bag is disengaging - I cannot afford to buy a new machine so I have ordered a new holster - is this easy to replace? I am in France and have had to order a new holster from Amazon UK!

  There should be some bounce in that piece when the bag is not installed on it. The gap you see might be happening after you open the bag compartment, it is common for the lid to slightly prime the bag for removal.

  Kerby has a vent on the side that bypasses the filter so I'm sure the air quality would be much worse if it was tested properly.

  Kirby is by far the best looking vaccume of the 3. Not to mention the other 2 are plastic and the handles break off. Orrek is the WORST! They have this thin plastic tube that is both for suction and aa the only structure if the vacume so they break in half and you have to replace the entire center of the vaccume. It use to be aluminum but they cheaped out and used crappy plastic. DONT BUY OREK. THEY ARE TRASH. SAME WITH THE BISSLE GREEN SAME DESIGHN ALSO TRASH

  Seems clear that Miele purposely made this tool much harder to service than its predecessor. I can't see any functional reason, such as better performance, why the company would do this. It seems much the same inside as the previous design---once you get it apart, if you ever do. I had to yank the wheels out with a tightened vice grip onto the hub of each wheel, because I was afraid the housing would crack or break if I used a screwdriver. Thanks to Burton Security for revealing where the screws had been hidden. Only a total bone-head, or someone who thought they'd save the company a few cents per unit (which I doubt), would put the screws there, then make the wheels hard to remove. Sheesh! The earlier design appears to have been made so that service was pretty easy. I ran the thing at full whack on a tough job. My mistake, I guess. The brush now vibrates during rotation, no longer smooth. It's probably un-fixable.

  Yah! I made it that far, too. The difficult, apparently impossible final step, removing the leading edge from the clear plastic "window" seems impossible without damaging the plastic housing. If somehow has an actual solution, let's see it please!

  The solution I came up with for getting the front parts separated: Slip a couple butterknifes vertically in the seam between the black plastic and the clear plastic. Pry open. Later cut the top edge of the holes in the black plastic. That eliminates the mating of the tab in the clear plastic with the black frame. The screws will hold it all together.   Piece of crap. Every month will have to dig in the brush to clean. I wanted to take apart the brush to clean better. But not like the other heads, this sucks and blows to take apart. DON"T BUY THIS HEAD!

  I have an S246i from the early or mid 2000's, which didn't come with a HEPA filter. It seems to have lots of power and suction, so I'm wondering if there's any reason not to use a HEPA filter.
