Welcome to Riggin Farm! We are a husband and wife team that runs a small family farm on our 25 acre property in North Georgia. Nick is a culinary school graduate that has been in restaurant and retail management for nearly 20 years, and Ashley is an Air Force veteran who grew up farming. Together we have amazing synergy that helps us do so much more than either of us could do alone. The events of 2020-2021 created a plethora of challenges as we built our home, started acquiring livestock, and setup a garden. Check out past videos to see how that went and subscribe to watch our progress! Join us on our journey as we build our farming business from the beginning until we are living the ultimate dream life!

Did you build/add a ramp? If so, did you do a video how-to that you could share? Thanks!
Stay puft marshmallow man earrings!!! That’s so cute 😊
What state are you in? And what time of year? Thanks
Georgia. Summer time after rain is when we get them.
Warren Buffett owns this company he is one of the richest men in America
Sounds like every house built as well
We are looking at getting a starter home through Clayton until we're able to build cabins and our forever home so hopefully the process will not be horrible. Did the foundation get built through Clayton or did you have a separate contractor for this process?
Clayton hired the contractor that did the foundation.
@@RigginFarm okay cool... Thank you
I have Clayton home purcchased in 2001! The particuls ur feeling under the carpet is where they don't Sweap and clean the floor before laying the carpet down Whatever drops on the floor while building the house is not gotten up. They lay the carpet right over it!!! I found razor blades in the air ducks!! I guess when they dull, and the employee switches to a new one , they just flip it in the vent That's taking no pride in your work what so ever😮
The pee part made me laugh
Yes u are right I’m glad someone is saying something and you all are doing an awesome job because it seems like after a year it falls apart well this is my 24th year here in mine it seems like every time you turn around something is falling apart now you better check your toilets and all the faucets that the parts that go to it because they are no good. Everyone had to get redone redo the floor due to the toilet and be aware that your huge tub you have can leak and break very easily, mine is made out of plastic less and it has a crack in it, but I can’t use it. I don’t wanna damage the other floor baseboards and he said very, very very poor quality when you go shopping people don’t let the beauty of it overcome you because you’re overlooking all the small flaws, thank you
that wmake your insurance go up. Also, any upgrades you do will make it go up of course so therefore you’re not getting your money back if you remodel it you don’t get your money back as far if something happened and you did have a fire or anything it won’t even cover anything maybe up to 50,000 if you’re lucky so therefore you lose all your money. This is not a good investment property for me but when you’re stuck, you have to have somewhere to live. What are you gonna do when you have a fire and you don’t want it to happen again so at this point in the state of Tennessee, they don’t consider nothing but a trailer so I would love to see what you all got as far as interest, but you’re in North Carolina so it may be different good luck and it looks like a beautiful home and we did have a lot of problems with ours. We’ve had to replace the hot water heater so if it’s put in place like your master bedroom closet right right in that hole is your central heating and air vent where you better be careful because it will buckle the floors and everything, it leaks and you don’t even know it. It’s too late.
If you do consider getting a home like this, you might want to think about the interest rate because you are charged a higher interest rate in the state of Tennessee and the interest rate it was 0.9 that’s high to me and they cannot be taken to a regular Bank they if you do it’s even higher they consider this a manufactured home and it is but they do not want you or your business at the bank even if you have a great credit which I did only reason that was purchased was because my house burnt they’re cheaply made and when you’re kind of stuck when you needing something like a home waiting to get a builder to build one is even like they said in the video it’s very expensive and during this time you think when you pay insurance on your home it depreciate every time you turn around every month it depreciates it’s not even worth it. I’ll say you pay $100,000 for a home from Clayton when you get it paid off it might be worth 5000 am I insurance company told me it’s a bad investment you’ll never get your money back because you’re paying a lot of insurance companies will only cover so much well it won’t even cover what we paid for not alone cover for furniture and stuff like that you can only get up to a maximum of 50,000 at least in case there was and when they’re talking about the holes, yes that is true. Do not buy a modular home from them or any other company because if you like mouse in your home, we’ll go for it because I don’t and they do in every year.
Mobile homes have issues like the rv industry.
Clayton used to be considered the best in the business, sad to see them go down in quality
Anyone watching looking for a modular home in the NRV of VA comment and I'll get in touch. We are a local builder of nationwide homes
I have same problems with mice!
I hadn't seen or considered that method of removal. I have a good post puller, but that's good to know in a pinch.
Ibought one doors leak ends leak insulation wet got mold inside both doors don,t buy and they sold it. And nowthey went me to pay not me
I lo e all the information you provided. Would you have still bought a manufacturer home, knowing what you know now? We are looking into buying one instead of doing a barnomington. It seems like a major price difference. What advice can you give me other than what you explained in your video?
We would have gotten a lot more in writing had we known what we’d experience. That would have given us leverage in a court case. The home itself isn’t bad for the price, but the dealer we went to was dishonest.
I've been thinking about buying a small lot and getting a manufactured home. I'm glad you made this video. I live in Ellijay and likely would have gone to Clayton homes in Dalton. No way I'll do that after this video and reading the comments.
0:26her tantrum begins
How's the 2 year update?
I would NEVER purchase a home from Clayton! They are a JOKE, in which you had experienced.
You could have had water delivered. 250 gal. and a rental tank.
Clayton of Lumberton Tx, is the BEST! 👍 greatfull I didn’t have any of these problems
asking to sighn a form about not going on any media to talk about your home. Is a red flag I would walk right out at that point.
We bought one and all of the tubs and sinks were not caulked after delivery. Also, there were a lot of brad nails in the carpet in the master bedroom. The edging on the counters has to be reglued.
Why were you checking for Wuhan virus?
The well is on you, not uncle Warren
You didn’t get a net meter from the power company. The issue is not the solar edge but the utility meter.
Bought a Norris Double Wide in 1992 still looking and going Great today sure I've done maintance threw those years but Anything would need that ! 😁✌
Hey just watched your video. Sorry you are having all these issues. My wife and I are in the process of buying through Clayton homes but our home is built by buccaneer. Who was your home built by?
Ours is a Clayton Home built in the Appalachia warehouse
@@RigginFarm ok thanks for that. I hope ours won’t have the same issues yalls did.
Lumps under carpet?! When I worked in a mobile home plant (for a very short while) it wasn't uncommon for the carpet installers to lay the carpet without sweeping the floors first. Not saying Clayton does that but Clayton is made here in the south and quality often takes a back seat to the production bonus.
Yep, Clayton got me, too. I'm always fixing their cheap short cuts.
Hi. My name is Vanessa I would like the know the name of the loggers you used.
North Georgia Timber
Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m in the process of buying a mobile home and I will definitely keep your opinion in mind! Can’t believe the other buyer had to sign the waiver, what a shady company!
So did they ever move the vents? I wish I’d have known they could do that
They did not
@@RigginFarm dang that stinks
Wow that sounds exactly like my current experience. We started the process with Clayton in April 2023 and we are finally doing our walk through tomorrow
All your outlets will eventually just fall apart bc they carve suck big holes for the outlets then use the cheap turn and lock in place outlets. every single outlet in my home has come out accept the ones in the island. Complete joke.
I always wanted a Clayton Home I don't think i want one if this is how they do business.
Why are you acting like you built a custom stick build home for $200,000+? Average manufactured homes costed $80,000+ in 2020. They have to keep their prices affordable somehow. I actually lived in a Clayton home as the second family in it and I never had any issues with it or expected the quality to be that of a regular built home.
If you live in the woods or near the wild it don’t matter what you live in rodents will find a way in or make one of there own.
wow so glad I saw this really opened my eyes
considering this was 1 year ago, I wouldhavestated create and emergencey rain barrel to harvet rain water, and then adn th ebuild a setperate solar station for the water ll pump, only do't go with some stupid company. create and build a system using your own creativity. and that is how you will learn how things work. I am sorry that ou got duped in to a really stupid non DIY system. had I been asessing your home and had I worked in that field, i would have assed your home by taking notes on all your appliacnes, and I thne would have researched as well on how large of a bttery bank you would need. and then remove you from the grid totally. so that you would be off grid. It would not have been cheap, or, I would have you build your own system. Like I said, I am sorry that you got a bad expierince from companies that took you for a ride. solar is gret when you have everything ballanced, and yes, yu can live grid free. but, you will have to build your own stand alone system.
What a nightmare! You both seem to have a good attitude in spite of all of the trouble you had to go through. I've never had enough motivation to buy a manufactured home ... the park rents are outrageous in our area and the land is sky-high. I hope your challenges are over with.
For a few years now, I have been thinking of getting a mobile home for my nearby "man cave" property. After watching your videos, and hearing of the less-than-stellar quality of these homes, I know it's just not for me. I've seen brands that even have plastic sinks! Mice can get in through the smallest gaps. If you continue to have a mouse problem, it's time for a serious discussion with the cat!
You guys are so cute! The kids will be ok. Did you think of hiring your own contractors for the land development and well drilling vs. having Clayton-supplied contractors? If you didn't get satisfaction from Clayton Headquarters, I would have emailed Warren Buffet since Berkshire Hathaway owns Clayton Homes. I feel for you on the gardening aspect of your property. I have a 50-acre property with a garden that is 4 miles from my home. Until this year, I used to haul 40 gallons of water in the car on a regular basis. In 2023, I had a well drilled and this year I had a pump installed. Power hookup is expensive, so I use a generator now, but hope to install solar power at some point! Love each other, hug the kids, and stay safe. You'll be ok.
So happy I saw this. We found land and was considering a Clayton home. Thanks I will now shop elsewhere.
Dang, should have gone with Enphase
I hate to say I told you so, but, you get what you payed for.
All of you who ordered a house a certain way, and did NOT get a signed copy of what you ordered, thats your fault. Always get a signed copy whenever you order something. I ordered my first brand new truck when i was 26, no copy of the order, it did not come the way i ordered it, couldn't wait for anoher one. Ever since then, SIGNED COPY, and never had a problem again, im 64 now. And no matter how long it takes, if it didn't come the way you ordered it, send it back, there problem.
