Easiest thing in the world is to say this is "over the top" but where do you draw the line on respect and gratitude for those that lost everything?. If we all learn nothing from our self obsession then may our God lead us to be in awe of those that paid for our freedom - I can but shed a tear for the warriors that paved the way. May your God bless you till all eternity.

Impressive ceremony. Would anyone be able to post the text of what is recited at the end of the decoration?

#RIPaviator, NOTE: What galls me is that not all #USVeterans gets this #HonorableBurial at #ANC. I recently buried my #WW2 buddy with no #HonorGuard, they were a #NoShow from the #VFW. I’m a #DisabledVet, I served in #Grenada & #DesertStorm, I’m pretty sure my remains will not end up in #DC!

I had the honor to attend the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, years ago. It was a very moving ceremony. Every citizen of our country, should have the opportunity to do so. If you do, remember, respect the place, the soldiers, and most importantly, those that are buried there, for they and the thousands they represent, gave their lives so you can live free.

As a fellow 11B that served with the 82ND as a private back in the early 90s, I understand how grueling Drill and Ceremony is. It kills your knees, back, joints and being precise, especially at the level of the Old Guard, is very, very hard. Change of Command ceremonies, Division Reviews were total suck fests, even more so when speakers got long winded. Always be weary of those who claim they will keep it short at the very beginning. Believe it or not, the longer one has to stay still, the harder it is. It was always a huge relief once we could start moving, any kind of movement. The Old Guard did this as their main job. They are total pros. No, they are not Marines. They are Army Infantryman. I went to Basic at Benning and one of my friends went to the Old Guard. I visited him a couple of times on weekend passes (from Bragg) and got to see how they lived first hand. The privates spent a lot of free time polishing, lol. I really admired the dedication these young men gave to their craft. When I got out the first time and went into the WIARNG, I had one Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Honor Guard as one of my team leaders. We had another in a different squad. Both were exceptional guys and I happily took mine under my wing and helped him become more proficient with 11B stuff. We became fast friends. Since he was going to school for IT, I'd kid him that his badge was actually a computer badge now. Thank you 3rd Infantry, The Old Guard for representing our nation at the highest professional level.

the donald was never capable of uttering words of worth for all those who gave their lives for their country - the donald considered those who were killed as "losers and suckers" - it is the donald who is the loser and the sucker.

I know it's an American cultural thing, but for me, this all robotic moves are un-human and ridiculous, no matter how honoring it should be these ceremonies. There are other ways to honor those who were killed in unnecessary wars, to save the politicians a**es

O momento mais triste é este onde os pais, a esposa ou até mesmo os filhos receberam a Bandeira dobrada em sinal o seu dever cumprido e a medalha d honra pelo seu heroísmo. Fico emocionado quando vejo esta cena
