    Greetings from India! My 4 year old boy has been playing with this 42117 Lego set for a more than a month. I sat and made some of your 33 iterations and it was equally enjoyable for me as well as him ! He found it easier to follow instructions and he has done almost all the other MOCs on rebrickable. But your creations are unique and really a class apart. It’s really challenging for a child that small (and even for us adults) to play a video forward and back and build a model! I wish you would publish the instruction manuals on rebrickable for these models to make it accessible for the younger audience. Amazing work ! Your 33 models ignited a new found curiosity in my kid who thought that only 2 planes possible! And it’s on his request that I am sending you this comment in hopes that you will respond and I can convey him your message back !

    Thanks for the feedback and glad you and your son and having fun with these. Many of the models have PDF instructions on Rebrickable made by other fans of my 42117 alternates. I unfortunately do not have enough time to do the PDF versions for these small models so the video ones are going to be your primary source of instructions.

    Brilliant alternate model! Was almost worried you'd stick with 42117 forever. :) P.S. When will we get a full suspension MTB in the Technic theme with working pneumatic brake discs and such, similar to what SleepyCow submitted to Ideas?

    BTW: i was trying to build it and noticed that you are using spare parts on Johnny. You may have mentioned it in the intro and i just ignored it?😇 But the rebrickable inventory is super weird! ...it says the spare parts are not needed to build Johnny. But lists them under your inventory.🤔

    1:28 in the 90s though, stickers were limited to effects that were IMPOSSIBLE to achieve with printing. Like your aforementioned holo effect, or something like the heat-sensitive, colour changing emblems from Lego UFO. Everything else was printed, basically. So, making this point saying "Lego used stickers back then too" is not relativizing TODAY'S sheer overuse of stickers, which is done for being more profitable compared to printing. They COULD do most designs with prints, but they don't, because it's cheaper, and still the prices are going up every year. Funny, how when they were struggling with bankruptcy looming overhead, that they delivered higher value products at affordable prices.

    Oh btw, you had the ship in the opposite direction in the chest of the robot. The pilot should look at the outside. Try it, you will see it fits waaaay better (it's in the instructions too)

  • @XCATX25
    @XCATX2522 күн бұрын

    I tell you why the cockpit is red: Because it's fucking beautiful in red with the rest of the colors. But jokes aside, there are rules, blue is used for cockpits of ships and bases, all robots have red transparent windows and no blue, not just this one. And btw, to be completely honest, neon green theoretically is connected with the energy system used in previous series, that's why M-Tron had it, Blacktron 2 stole, and maybe Spyrius use it too. The UFO probably uses a different energy source, that's why its colors are blue

    Nějaký převod, kterým by se aktivoval motor s vrtulí. Kormidla na plováky. Pohon vrtule z podvozku. Směrovku, dveře kabiny. Ale nejvíc mi asi vadí, že vrtule se ani plynule neotáčí a není aktivována nějakým jiným způsobem.

    I’m genuinely very impressed with the rotor tilting mechanism on a such small-medium model. It could’ve used some brighter colors to make it look a little more exciting. But this is another win for how the Technic/System pieces intertwined back in the day to make those models still feel very LEGO-esque, at least IMHO. :)

    Nice presentation - and a lovely model. Flex was rather nice, I have the barcode truck (review that!) using it to great effect. The round rotor piece with 4 balls (2908) looks like a reuse of car parts, but it's actually exclusive to 8856 and this set 8412.

    Oh yeah, I remember this one perfectly ;) When I was 10, I twisted my ankle and had to wear a brace for two weeks. After the ankle healed, my parents got some compensation for me from insurance - just enough to buy this set ;) I unfortunately lost my childhood LEGO collection 20 years ago, but I reacquired this set a few years ago, when I got into collecting LEGO sets, and now it proudly sits on my shelf :)
