So next time at a club called Jovita's and this attractive woman walks up to me and she says I've got my dad's beautiful guitar in the trunk of my car would you please photograph Blaze I'll pay you. Well my rent was due and I could use the money so I said okay let's go so we grabbed Blaze we went down to my studio I took the shot of Blaze with this girl's dad's beautiful guitar and years later I mean a lot of years later I was approached by a record company and they wanted to use that portrait for Blazes Oval Room CD and seeing at this point how Blaze was a good friend of mine I was very happy to oblige.

The most beautiful song I've heard in quite some time. Rip Blaze. Thank you!!!
Growing up in Toronto in the 70s and early 80s I figured this was a huge hit everywhere lol. Didn’t realize until a few years ago it was primarily a hit only in Southern Ontario.

The fact that he says "sad songs for us to bare" and not sad songs for us to sing or anything else he could have used there. That he uses the word bare is a stroke of absolute songwriting genuis. When i heard that line i cried.

Blaze and I were close like brothers. I remember Blaze singing this song while we munched down on our cans of beef stew and sloshing down 40 oz bottles of Olympia beer on the bank of the Bouldin Creek in Austin. We were poor as dogs. I was fortunate to have photographed the cover of Oval Room. Blaze never his fame. Sad. I miss him dearly every single day. A most beautiful song.
