    Thank you for putting the overview of the Nikon on youtube; appreciate the time and effort May I ask how it stands up to the Nikon D80 D200, Sony Alpha a series with CCD 10.2 And what 50mm would you recommend I search for on eBay to fit the camera D3000?

  • @1kdiy

    I would get the D200, if I had to choose, with the AF 50mm 1.8. I have 6 d80 bodies. Their shutters failed under 100k triggers. On all of them! The d200 is the camera to get.

    Hello, The 50mm was just the last lens that was on the camera when I recorded the intro of this video. All images have been taken with the 70-210 f4-5.6 AF Lens and most have not been cropped. The 50mm was not used in this video, but I understand that it may look like it was used.... The 70-210 is a decent, sharp zoom that you can get for $40-50 on eBay.

    Unfortunately, it's hard to compare DSLRs with bridge cameras as they are meant to be used in different ways for different types of photography. But generally, yes, the D3000 can do more depending on the lenses you pair it with, the sensor is much bigger, battery life is longer, ergonomics are better (personal opinion.. it may be different for you :) )

    Hello, I would recommend you 2 lenses that would cover a lot of use cases: the 50 1.8 AF (cheaper, good quality, slower AF) or Afs (more expensive, faster AF) + the 55-200 Afs. Waaaay back I had two 7000s &16mp VS 24mp plus a flip screen for ergonomic video shooting & w/ with Nikon FX 24-85mm G VR. (35mm-127mm) & all that makes it dance on the skull of a D7000.... my main A-Camera is a D800 w/ a Nikon FX 70 to 210mm D f4. • @1kdiy
    @1kdiy6 ай бұрын

    My main camera is from a completely different system, manufacturer, generation... But that's irrelevant. Saying that a camera is better based only on the Mpx count and the screen is not something I would do. D7000 works with 5x more lenses thanks to the built-in motor, you can use it in the rain, you can break things with it and it will continue to work, has 2 card slots with multiple configs... I can continue pointing out pros of the D7000, however, I don't think there is any point if you believe that sensor resolution and screen are everything... D800 is a great camera, but I wonder why you use it since there are cameras with higher Mpx sensors and better screens? That's what is important for a great photo according to you, right? As for video, DSLRs are just not the right tech (even the d800), IMO. Almost all recent mirrorless cameras would beat any DSLR when it comes to video.

  • @ssatx57
    @ssatx576 ай бұрын

    D800 has 36.3 mp - that's the sweet spot for file size, deep crops, printmaking & especially uploading 100's of raw files at a time to a client server doesn't take as long as a 45mp by alot. The 5200 is great for stills & video good enough for $200 it's nice lite & compact w/ fx lens & the flip screen is the only practical way to shoot videos - as far as mirrorless goes...I have a cel phone...I'm an old school Hollywood film cameraman & stills guy..I only like DSLRs besides most of the real magic either way comes from photoshop post work. @@1kdiy

  • @1kdiy
    @1kdiy6 ай бұрын

    This I agree with. The whole point of the video is to share experiences. There is something special with some of these old DSLRs. My main camera is the Sony a7 III, however, I very often reach out for one of the 40-50 DSLRs from my collection. When I see something like the D7000 or the D200, or even the D100 (yeah, this 20+ years old 6mpx camera), when I hold it... I just want to go out and take pictures. Maybe there is something wrong with me, idk, but I don't get this feeling with the newer cameras. Yes, they are technically better, but feel too clinical, lacking... Maybe it's just nostalgia. I shoot for fun. It's just a hobby that grew on me over the years. And I just want to show people that you can get nice photos even with a 20 years old camera. And the experience of holding one of these cameras just can't be compared with even the most expensive flagship smartphone for example. But I'm sure that you know this. I'm sure that you can also take great pictures even if you have to use the d100. It's all about us and our experiences, and less about the tech capabilities.
