What is hard to tell from the video is visual acuity and performance in extremely low light situations. I fly with these for work and the WP gen3 tubes are genuinely impressive. If you spend some time tuning them on the tester, you can get to 20/20 vision through them. The 69s are digital and while cool, are nowhere near the performance of AN/PVS-9s. There’s a reason for the price difference.

I am a firm believer that "bad" night vision is better than no night vision. I have a set of PVS69s and recently obtained TNV/PVS-14s with an Elbit tube. The difference is awesome. Digital will never be the go-to option, but the PVS69 can't be beat for the price tag and is perfectly serviceable.

@@GameWiz2428 No, it's not as bad as conventional digital NV but 30ms delay is definitely going to have an effect. You may not notice because your brain adjusts for it, however you will have headaches and other issues when using it for 3+ hours straight. I have seen this effect first hand. Of course it will differ from person to person but on average these are the effects. If you only looking to do short training sessions or use it for short periods then you good to go. • @KMProtectionServices

@@GameWiz2428 it’s not the same thing. In vr you physically are not moving so your brain understands this. With digital nods you are moving and your brain has to adjust for the lag. I know there may be some head movement in vr but it’s not as extensive as full body movement and brain compensation. VR may be good training for it though and may be a good training tool for the brain, but at the end there will always be brain fatigue. It will also always differ from person to person. Keep in mind training under nods is way more intensive mentally and physically than playing a video game, even under vr.

  • @GameWiz2428

@@KMProtectionServices I definitely disagree that you aren't moving in VR. There are many games where you move around in your playspace especially if you have a big enough space. Essentially it’s a 3D printed housing unit. The designer has files/parts kits/tubes/len’s for sale. It allows the user to upgrade their NODs as they can afford it. 3D printing has come a long way, much stronger materials now. $600-$4000 for Binos. Cheap end is digital, thermal drone cameras connected to display screens (very low latency as it’s the main upgrade in comparison to all other digitals that aren’t running on light impulse wiring) High end is Brand new Gen3 WP tubes.
