If I had seen this earlier today I'd have found it. I can't believe I've missed that. I've been down in there before but I usually go right up the middle-main part.

Yup I did... I also ran a slightly lighter rear tire.... Dissector VS dhr2s... I set my bike up for rock creek, which we rode the day after, but it was a mistake, should've let it be...

So I'd say one of our favorite loops is park at Guion Farms, pedal up gravel on Sky Valley Rd, down Rocky Ridge, up Ruffed Grouse, down Hooker, optional Hickory Mtn, down Ridgeline, up Jim Branch, Isaac Heath, Hilltop Loop, back the other way on Isaac Heath, down the little piece at the end of Jim Branch, Buck Forest Rd back to Guion Farms.

Nicely done - the ride AND the video recap. I rode Epic 50 last year and had a blast...and slept REALLY well that night. This year I decided to only ride out and back to the Land Bridge and spend more time riding around Santos trails/Vortex. Glad I did - had a blast testing my nerves on a few jumps at Vortex (I'm more of an all-mountain guy here in Atlanta) and test-riding a few newer 29'ers from the bike vendors. The Ocala MTB Assn does a great job with this event overall - will be back!!

Great Video, Great Effort! You captured the difficulty of this year's ride perfectly, and you did it! Congratulations for persevering, so many got to Lunch and bailed, your video is the first I've seen that captures how horrid Road 2 was. (We left the log on the right of the deepest crossing so you had an option to walk the log and use your bike for balance. My wife did that during trail prep.)

Gravel bikes (what I have) give u alot of versatility at the cost of nimbleless, lightness and speed of a road bike (I have road wheels on mine so it helps but will never be as quick or nimble as a dedicated road bike) ... Once u decide on the riding you want to do... I would direct you to the used market. Lots of great deals to be had given the bike industry is down... Good luck with your search... 🤙👍

Nicely done and congrats on finishing. I did my first Ididaride 20 years ago and have pretty done them every year since except when my wife and I are cycling around the world. These longer events are very addicting so be careful before you know it, you'll be looking at the ORAMM, Cohutta 100, PMBAR, Santos 12 hour solo, and many others. Once those events aren't enough there is Randonneuring and then cycling around the globe. ;-) Cheers and happy cycling! ~Ron

yea the mud/water definitely made it hard this year. my shoes were soaked at the 6 mile mark and there were so many long stretches of mud/water later on

Yeah man that p 1 climb is no joke! I almost lost my breakfast up there . The down hill is worth it . Also I took the Rock hopper hardtail that day instead of the stump jumper full suspension . I guess I am a glutton for punishment . Lol

That climb is no joke, my wife and I damn near passed out the first time we hit it cuz we were complete newbies and just started mtbing ... Between 14-18mph....u can really pick up some good speed on the trails but u need strength and cardio. I did this segment on day 3 of a multi 20 mile a day ride...
