    WHY do people feel the drive to put music, often too loud and only to their taste in the video??? I quit this one because of that and noted to never watch George again. Probably no loss, but maybe this week's YT check is little less.

And how thin did you cut the inlay wood for the window please, my partner made me one but he attached the perspex on the outside of the wood also I have a large gap between doors and the one side at the top that opens upwards 😪 I'm wanting too try and make one myself as love a challenge. Thanks for sharing.

  • @GeorgeMadeThis

    Hi, I eyeballed the angles for these bits so am afraid I don’t have this measurement. If you hold the piece up to the sides of where it has to go you can mark the angles on it that way and cut them how you see fit. Hope this helps!!

    Looking at building one of these myself. I bought a small item similar from a high street store. Has a metal frame, I think three shelves and a plastic cover with two zips. Great at first but when the sun hit it for one summer, the plastic cover started to shrink slightly making the zips tricky to do up all the way because of how tight it is and it's also gone a bit brittle and in places, the plastic has started to crack. Looking at routing out a groove for the perspex to fit into rather than fitting strips of wood - only down side is replacing a panel if it gets broken :/

  • @GeorgeMadeThis
    @GeorgeMadeThis Жыл бұрын

    Newer ones I make I do route a groove to fit the panels in, yes it is a pain if a panel gets damaged but can just be unscrewed to replace. Using grooves does speed the building process up as well

    Thank you! I think it was around £100-150 for materials. Could be less if material prices are coming down slightly… I think you can buy one for £150 from shops but a lot of the reviews say they are quite flimsy… on newer ones I make, I route a groove in all the pieces to accept the polycarbonate, rather than cutting strips like I did in this initial one. It keeps the polycarbonate held a lot more firmly. Hope this helps!

    @@chloethegreybuild8655 I've often wondered about the price of building it yourself vs bought and quickly realised after being asked to price up a couple items I've made for other people. Most popular item was the recycle bin storage unit. Didn't think of it when I made mine but after being asked to make it for others, I had to do some research. In short, turned out that although mine was expensive, I just could not compete with people who were making the same items regards to price. What I noticed in every case though was mine was much stronger. I refuse to skimp on quality of materials and joinery methods and that's mainly where it shone through. Items from competitors were using really low quality wood and the quality of build (mainly the joints) were nowhere near as good as mine. Just thought I'd share what I found out.
