I have a Legacy Standard Bible and the NASB 1995. I have no plans to buy a NASB 2020. I agree we have way too many English translations and we would be better off putting our resources to translating the Bible for people who don’t have a copy.

My first Bible was an NASB, which I still have and is my preferred translation. So when I got my LSB it was not much different than what I was used to, which I liked. I agree with the use of Yahweh instead of Lord, in that there is too many changes of Lord to Yahweh.

What a lovely witchcraft symbol on the front of that thing. I wouldn't own it just because of this. You folks are clueless about symbols. It's no accident that symbol is on there. It's not a Christian symbol... Fools!

This translation LOOKS GREAT! and I'm quite thankful they retain the masculine in Psalm 1 as I see it as speaking primarily about Christ. One thing I was particularly excited about though was that the translators were consulted the Textus Receptus as one of their bases for the New testament. I was disappointed to see Acts 8:37 and the Johanan Comma still left out of the text 😔 But besides those two complaints, this seems like such a great Bible!

I think if you choose kjv as your preferred Bible, great. However, the kjv only crowd seems to veer into fundamentalist legalism. The kjv does not equal the autographs. Imo, the closest we can get to the autographs is the majority text. If you have an nkjv you can make it very close to majority text with the footnotes. I use three translations- kjv, nkjv, and nasb. This seems to give me a well rounded approach

We are not Kings as Christians, to set about coercing others to behave in ways consistent with what we think needful. Rather, we are redeemed, intended to come to resemble Christ moreso than the world around us over the courses of our lives, to lead by example, persuasion and inspiration, to exemplify love, kindness, the fruits of the Spirit. To grow in our walk with Jesus, learn to trust Him and let His light shine through us rather than think we are so wise in ourselves to compel in others what we think proper.

2 Timothy 4:1-2 1599 Geneva Bible 1 I [a]Charge thee therefore before God, and before the Lord Jesus Christ, which shall judge the quick and dead at that his appearing, and in his kingdom, 2 Preach the word: be instant, in season, and out of season: improve, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. Footnotes a, 2 Timothy 4:1 The principal and chief of all admonitions, being therefore proposed with a most earnest charge, is this: That the word of God be propounded with a certain holy importunity, as necessity requireth: but so, that a good and true ground of the doctrine be laid, and the vehemency be tempered with all holy meekness.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 1599 Geneva Bible 16 [a]For the whole Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable to teach, to convince, to correct, and to instruct in righteousness, 17 That the [b]man of God may be absolute, being made perfect unto all good works. Footnotes a, 2 Timothy 3:16 The eighth admonition, which is most precious: A Pastor must be wise by the word of God only: wherein we have perfectly delivered unto us, whatsoever pertaineth either to discern, know and establish true opinions, and to confute false, and furthermore, to correct evil manners, and to frame good. b, 2 Timothy 3:17 The Prophets and expounders of God’s will, are properly and peculiarly called, Men of God.

Footnotes a, 2 Timothy 2:15 The fifth admonition: A minister must not be an idle disputer, but a faithful steward in dividing aright the word of truth, insomuch that he must stop the mouths of other vain babblers. b, 2 Timothy 2:15 By adding nothing to it, neither overslipping anything, neither mangling it, nor renting it in sunder, nor wresting of it: but marking diligently what his hearers are able to hear, and what is fit to edifying.

I own a copy of the ESV Anglicised printed by Harper Collins. Basically it uses the British spelling of words. That might contribute to the wide availability of this translation.

You Bible reviewers ought to use John 7:39 as a test case. The Net Bible footnotes their translation explaining why they add a word to the verse that is not in the Greek. The NASB puts the added word ("given") in italics. Most translations adds "given" (or a synonym) without noting why. But the NRSV translates the verse for what it literally says, which invites the reader to seek to discover why John used this strange statement.

I really don’t like the way you are trying to sell the Bible, you’re constantly trying to justify the price and the value. The LSB is on of the translations I consider primary, but please just review the Bible. And yes the lack of gilding for that price based on other comparable offerings in the market is absurd! That said, if they can get the price right it might be a good option, but you could get two different translations in as nice or nicer binding for about the price you are pushing the Bible for. Also, yes inflation is a real problem right now, but the 316 Bibles were already on the higher side of pricing comparably, not preclusively so but still.

@ReadyToHarvest I applaud your neutral presentation! Here’s why, I go to your channel to understand denominations. I have had wrong ideas about certain denominations and I’m glad that I kept my mouth shut when I found out that a friend who I thought was IFB was Church of the Nazarene. I assumed Nazarenes were a Pentecostal denomination. I went to your channel and found out that they are Wesleyan. Wow! Things made sense. My friend was always a good brother, we only see each other at concerts - he’s also a singer - so our discussions are family, the things going on in our lives and music. I’m glad I didn’t show my ignorance when I found out in what church he directed music. Your neutrality allows me to show and approach with grace. I don’t need to walk into conversations with shields up because there might be a theological argument. I can understand the similarities and differences ahead of time and have a good idea if a friend is a believer or not. If not I have a good idea for an approach when I share the gospel. If he is, we can clarify misunderstandings in our denominations differences. Thank you for doing this.

I own a 1977 NASB (still available through AMG Publishers) and the 1995 Update. The church my wife and I attend uses the NASB 1995. I’m not sure how I feel about the NASB 2020. I bought the Legacy Standard Bible (LSB) instead.

How did the devil get this nation so comfortable with literally hundreds of profoundly differing Bible versions. So different.... In fact that those whom the King James says are "children of the devil", with a tweak here & there, &:everywhere, suddenly become children of God.

The point that you made that the HCSB (CSB) is an original translation based on greek and Hebrew manuscripts and not a revision of a previous English translation is what cinched this Bible for me. I've been mulling over which i wanted to dive into for a season or longer; the CSB, ESV, or the KJV. Putting aside underlying textual traditions, i think that fact of it's originality makes it so awesome. That's a big selling point that should be exploited (not in the bad way. Not the Mark way.)

I usually don't care for the paragraph format because, most of the time, the verse numbers blend in with the words, making them difficult for me to find. I immediately noticed that they really made the verse numbers very bold which, as you said, make it really easy to find the verses. I also like the size, the thumb index, and red letter. The fact that they also packed in references is amazing. I don't mind not having gold or silver guilding on the pages. I would feel less guilty tossing this Bible into my handbag to use when I am out and about. Yes, the price took me back at first, but after seeing all of the features, and seeing the font size, I really need to consider adding this one to my collection. Thank you so much for your review. :)
