  Please note that those cultural breakthroughs "from Islam" happened in-spite of Islam not because of it. They happened in areas already having a rich cultural heritage. Islamic" golden age is that whatever flourished, did so not by reason of Islam, but in spite of Islam. Muslims overran societies (Persian, Greek, Egyptian, Byzantine, Syrian, Jewish, Indian) that possessed intellectual sophistication in their own right and failed to completely destroy their cultures. Islam's original birthplace of Arabia never saw any renaissance and remains (devoid of culture) as such even today. Name one philosopher, poet, thinker, scientist during that so called "Golden Islamic" era, who wouldn't be punished today for blasphemy or expressing their thoughts. And by the way do you know many of those thinkers who brought a wave of enlightenment were ultimately put to death by Islamic edicts, because they were considered heretics? Muslim Arabs invaded most countries in the middle east and Asia and stole their innovations in science, maths, art and called it Islam. If they were so advanced, how come they didn't keep up and ever got a noble price in science, instead of being the most impoverished, illiterate, inbred and underdeveloped parts of the world? Seems Islam's Golden Age had some damm good propaganda writers churning out what they wanted the Infidels to believe. Being enslaved by Muslims for decades doesn't sound too golden to me....
