Im 32y now and ive seen these handles in finland since then. I have one filee knife from my wifes grandmother. Pretty much same you have, but without sheath. And of course several puukkos. I think its funny they used to make different blades and just use the same handle.😄

It’s definitely a model 1 with a commando shaped handle. What you called a place to put your thumb, is actually a place for your index finger when you hold it in an edge up position. It’s what makes it a fighter.

Pointing at the blade pivot, "I don't even know what that's there for" just wow.

My wife gifted me this Kershaw wildcat ridge for a birthday present in the mid 90s - identical to the one your show. Use it every month or so. Sharpens OK and holds an edge ok. I like its weight. It moves nicely when dressing game and camp food duties.

Didn't use to be the best part of town but now they have new developments surrounding them. Just went there today and put a Trapper 25-5 on order. The "S" stands for stainless.

I bought my first Marttiini knife (a lynx), in 1966. Although the survival knife you show is marked "Marttiini", I think that they are manufactured by "Joker" in Spain.

Recently bought one. Great knife steel and geometry, but terrible pocket clip. Because the handle is completely textured, including where the clip makes contact, it will tear up your pants pocket unless you gradually open the clip so that it doesn't attach aggressively. I've used folded paper to do this and it now works fine. To your point though, the clip would have been so much better if it deep carried. The handle texture and aggressive jimping makes using the knife for any period without gloves annoying. I'm also a fan of the Emerson wave design for rapid knife deployment. The thumb hole on the XR allowed me to attach a "mounting cable zip tie" through that hole that works perfectly like the Emerson wave. For this knife, I'd recommend it.

The SRK was the go to knife with Swwedish soldiers in UN missions in the early 90s. It was also one of the knives conseidered as a replacement for the Mora knife the pilots used, but Fallkniven won that contract. So, your theory is backwards. SRK existed before F1 and A1. The S1 was initially planned for the Amphibious units/ Marines, but that contract was cancelled so they remodelled it as a "Forest knife". (S for skog, forest in swedish).

No Japs or Krauts in Kosovo but worked just the same. 14 production coincided with Korea 7” blade to reach all organs & arteries through a uniform. Order a 16 Special Fighter if you want to get real slicey dicey. No one ever died of too much education, do some fucking homework educate yourself on the subject matter. Save your beer or milk money grow a pair and buy one from the Randall family.

Each tool is designed for a specific purpose, knowing the correct tool for your specific application will be safer and more efficient. You won’t use the chain saw to cut kindling or the hatchet to chop a tree down.

Finish military would never consider a knife as weapon, but a tool...look around you tube and you will realize for the most part they would cringe at the thought of it being a weapon

My father had a Friend that served as a Captain in the Finish army WW11. On one expedition a Russian Sniper was causing them damage. He set his firearms down and went into the forest . 2 days later he came back. With the Sniper's Ears! I was given a Finish knife by a Finish Major (Finbat Sinai)(my father was Liaison Colonel). I carried that knife into Beirut and multiple deployments on the West Bank. Great knife tool and weapon. I still have it.

I think your disappointment can be avoided if you determine if its an an automatic, assisted opening, or manual knife before buying. If i buy a manual knife with the expection that its an automatic im going to be disappointment...

This seems to be more an opinion based on marketing, emotions and interpretation rather than facts, i would be embarrassed to the point of deleting this video upon realizing that you have it 180 degrees backwards. Cold steel did it first.

If the clip seems really hard to put on your pants, I’m not sure how you wouldn’t feel secure with it. Why would someone feel more secure with a clip that slide on easy

It's a razor pattern. At least that's what case calls it. Back in the day apparently it was used as a traveling straight razor. I just bought cases. It's there vault pattern for 2024.

Lynn Thompson of Cold Steel Fame, yes he sold the company to GSM. He designed a knife called the Espada, as tribute to the Navaja. But the blade is much wider, but it is a folding "pocket knife" with a blade of 7.5 inches, with a great blade lock. Whether it is a reproduction, or a new incarnation of the Navaja, it does not matter. Its a beast of a knife.

Or throw knifes on a tree... I have cut my self in almost every finger 🙂.. Knifes was just a grow up toy.. Never i see this as a weapon. Against others... The world been insane place... I dont understand why criminal people shal destroy. Ouer rights to wear knifes.. Its time to take back ouer rights... Be strong out there 👍🙏

I liked your knife collection, but not sure i agree with you about the Buck or Condor that you displayed being puukkos. I tend to agree with the viewer from Finland, each country has their own culture and it is up to them to maintain it however they see fit. I am not from Finland, Norway, or Sweden so I would never criticize how they choose to structure their rules. I like Helle, Stromeng, Karesuando, and Anti puukkos, but for quite some time I have been a big fan of Marttiini puukkos from Finland, especially the 1930s to 1950s versions before they changed the blade profile. Also, I like the old independent makers such as Broderna Jonsson from the Mora district of Sweden.

Cold Steel are really excellent Brother. Their Tri-ad lock is the strongest in the industry and with folders they have some really nice designs such as Recon 1, American Lawman, Code 4 and others. Go watch some of their Absolute Proof videos and it's amazing what those folding knives can do. I don't own the Fallkniven but there's no question it has a higher fit and finish considering it costs about 7x more than the SRK. I do own the SRK and for the money it's amazing value.

Hi Brother Breaker, the Spyderco I believe is called the Efficient. And yes, Spyderco makes an 'affordable' line in China and even have a subsidiary brand called Byrd Knives which are excellent value for the money. The nicer Spydercos are made in the US, Japan and Taiwan. I actually really like the Benchmade Griptilian and Mini Griptilian but they're pretty controversial because they're fairly expensive for a plastic handle. The blade steels you have there 154CM (is made in the US and medium high quality in terms of edge retention), 8CR13mov is made in China, a bit lower quality and can rust more easily. Anyhow keep up the good work. Love your other channel Cloud Church. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom!
