  In the case of the person who asked the why question, it's because in season 6(7? Whichever one he joined in) he picked up the elyrta fast and was damn good at it. So the fandom tends to give him some variety of natural wings because he loves flying so much!

  I was always confused by the ear-wings, just because I was like “why would there be wings there?” And then I drew him with the ear wings and I’ve realized they’re there because they’re ADORABLE!!
