Give it a try. A catio doesn't have to be nearly as elaborate as the one I made for the cats to enjoy. I also have a couple of very simple enclosures, just wire dog kennels sitting on a wood pedestal, outside of a couple windows. I cut a hole in the kennel so that when I open the window they can go out. The cats love those small enclosures just as much as the bigger structure. Just a thought. Good luck! Dan

Muito obrigado pelas amáveis palavras. Estou lisonjeado. Depois de esculpir com peças de papel machê adiciono uma “pele” de pano (lençóis velhos) umedecida em cola branca (prefiro a marca Elmer's Glue All). Isso é o que você vê com os espinhos e as teias deste dragão. Também uso argila polimérica (como Fimo e Sculpey) para as pontas, dentes e garras. Tomar cuidado Dan

I'm sorry. Not everyone has the resources or the place to build a catio. I'm just fortunate to have a spot that works well. I feel like I should say that it doesn't have to be nearly as elaborate for the cats to enjoy. I think they need ground, grass, vegetation, insects etc.
What they DON'T need is coyotes, cars, feline leukemia, and fleas (that live in grass). I have the happiest cats in the world. They have everything they need.

Yes, it is amazing to me that so much time has passed. As you suspect these cats are not alive any more. I miss them all terribly especially Eddy. He was one in a lifetime cat. I do have two other adorable cats now however and they also love the catio. In fact I have expanded the catio. There are more tunnels and it goes into a little house I built in the back yard. After sculpting with my paper mache pieces I add a "skin" of cloth (old bed sheets) dipped in white, all purpose glue. I use white sheets because it looks better on video but any color is fine since it will be painted.

That is cloth (old bed sheets) torn into strips and soaked in white all purpose glue.
