One thing I really like about this mod is that you really don't have to worry about scaling, or even automating a lot of stuff. Once you have like maybe 200 assemblers, you don't need any more because you can't fit any more. And with modules, normally your base gets starved for circuits the instant you plug them up, but you can build them slow in this because you don't have that many buildings. It really changes the game completely. It's not like other overhaul mods, which largely keep the formula the same, and just add a bunch of new, more complicated recipes. The science here is basically vanilla, but so many practices that are beneficial in vanilla end up being unnecessary or even detrimental.

Is there any possibility to reset that counter in other way than deconstruct it and place it again? It is annoying when you have to set the parameters and connect all cables every time. Is there some kind of input signal which can reset, the counter?

Yeah just make the condition on the combinator R = 0 and send an R to reset it

Doesn't the fuel cell stop being consumed when the reactor can't output any more heat? That happens at 1000C, and it's similar to how furnaces won't consume the rest of the fuel item when not actively working (opposite from how furnaces in Minecraft work, for example). I've been using circuits that regulate the fuel cell input but I'm also a mod dev and the reactor is just a furnace burning uranium cells from that point of view. Maybe there's something else to the reactor other than the neighbor bonus, I'm not sure. Maybe it keeps consuming energy from the "burner" even after filling up the thermal buffer.

A less boiler-wasteful (but way more space-inefficient) way to set up the boilers would be to alternate sides - rotating each next boiler 180° and putting the steam engines on the other side.

There's another automation game called Mindustry I've been playing a lot and the building designs get pressed together like this once you play it for long enough. In Mindustry the resources are infinite but the map size is very finite so you only have so many patches of each resource, and the space is also a challenge of the game. So you end up building resource gatherers right beside your production buildings to save space on belts. The miners may not be totally efficient but the space saved for the compact designs is immense. For example you need coal and sand to make silicon, and then I might typically belt the coal right on top of a patch of sand and build the silicon furnaces there on top of the sand, then miners literally right beside each furnace so their outputs dump directly into the silicon furnace. It's a fun game if you've never tried it btw! Really addictive. Fun in a similar way to Factorio but different enough to be unique and great in it's own way.
