    Run copper from the fuel bowl to the first filter, it will eliminate collapse fuel lines. When that tractor was built there was no ruby red diesel fuel, it was number 2 fuel oil and it was not clean by any means. Always filter the fuel at the tank before adding it to the tractor tank

    The '37 D is a basket case? Huh? I've brought home tractors in 5 gallon buckets and I thought they were basket cases. That D is pretty complete as far as I'm concerned.

    Dude, that is one hell of a deal. I bought one 8n a few years ago for $300 and I got another recently for free. Which is a great deal in my opinion. But a 1939 John Deere for $150. Just wow. I bet one of the front rims sells for that. Call Steiner Tractor out of Lennon Mi for the radiator. They may be able to help you out.

    If you know how to take that pump apart might be worth trying to clean it out before getting it reconditioned. Might be blocked with dirt, or maybe it hasn't and will need expert reconditioning.

    The fuel tank has two sections. Is this a distillate fuel tractor?

  • @tractordoctortv
    @tractordoctortv14 күн бұрын

    I'm not sure it could be distillerant it might be kerosene or my grandpa used to talk about a fuel called power fuel which was a mixture of gas and kerosene

    Good find there on the JD. Tin looks straight. Probably was taken care of most of its life. Like someone mentioned, the radiator can be boiled first then recored if not successfully ( boiled out) by the looks of it. They will probably boil it out to get it flowing and then if successful, check any leak problems to see if its fixable. Used ones are out there too. Great job on saving the old gal. I would definitely check compression on both sides early off.

    That's a great save on the '37 D! Can't wait to see what you do with it. $150 is a great deal and you're right, a scrapper would have ended up with the tractor and that would have been the end of it. Now it has a second chance at running again. Thank you, Doc! 🚜 👍

    Good morning. Great video…as usual. As for changing the oil….unless the dipstick shows an excess of liquid or signs of contamination…fuel, water, antifreeze, your best bet is to run it as is (for a short period) instead of wasting good oil. If you have any doubts, you can always loosen the drain plug and catch a dipper of whatever is in the oil pan and have a look at it and smell it for diesel. As for the J.Deere….really good deal. Actually, a steal. I think that if you take the old radiator (with all framework) to almost any radiator repair shop, they’ll completely replace the core like new….and most of these places love a challenge like this and they’ll be reasonably priced. Keep us updated. Thanks again…Mac

    Does crazy Dave have facilities to pressure test the pump on a bench, or on the starter motor. Take the injectors out and see if they are all atomising the fuel. Make sure there's no rubbish in the line and the pump is properly bled. That thing looks like your cold start system. Cheers Dan

    What breed are those? I'm guessing dorper or katahdin. Also, if the sale barn has a website they usually post a USDA market report. You can probably find the market report on the USDA website. I never tried because I always check my local barn's site for that information. I raise painted desert sheep now. They are not a tame breed but warm up over time. Another thing, never turn your back on a ram. Doesn't matter if he has always been gentle. I have a permanently damaged hand learning that lesson. I figure you probably know this but the warning is always valid I suppose.

    You bring up an interesting idea. It would be cool to try to put a diesel engine on it, but probably not practical. We have a diesel JD 2010. We've had it for about 2.5 years, and I'm starting to realize that it's not that great of a tractor.
