I was there, stone temple pilots were suppose to open up for kiss, but Scott Wieland was in rehab, and I guess Layne was sober at the time? Alice In Chains opened instead.

My God Layne, how can you be such a musical genious and so unassuming at the same time? You are sorely missed, angry angel 😭

Can you protect, me when I'm wrecked, I pretend you're still alive. I choose the day, one damp and gray. Thick fog to hide our smiles. Tell me ANY other band who can come close to weaving lyrics like this. DAMN IT Layne, we miss you!!! Thank you for your gift to us mere mortals while you were with us!!

One of the best snare drum sound. A great mixture of tunning not to high/tight,not to low...with warmth, beef/heft,thickness,dry crisp crack, dryness with some wettness, and a slight hollow pop to it

Layne had such a celestial voice, I’d always thought it was like ink, lucid and flowing. Jerry’s opening to this song is so hauntingly beautiful. And with the bass, drums, guitar… this will forever be my favourite song <33

If you watch the video of the whole concert you can see that Layne was in a TERRIBLE state. Completely erratic and messing up a bunch of songs. I think the solo that Jerry did at the end was kind of for himself, I can only imagine how hard it was getting through that show, seeing Layne in the state that he was and not being able to do anything about it. It’s pretty heartbreaking.

Jerry's voice is ethrel, but Lane has so much energy it could blow your eyebrows right off of your face. I'll never understand how a human could have produced so much power from a mortal set of lungs and larynx. It's like a physics lesson in motion: just because it's not humanly possible doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Layne had the coolest voice ever. He was the ultimate metal singer to me. He could neatly hit all the notes but still had so much fury and fire behind them. It was like a sonic flamethrower. Most metal singers are either low and grunty so there have power but lack light and agility or they are high and agile but sound thin or too shrill but he had just the right blend of punch and wail. I fucking love Alice In Chains. New music is so fucking gay compared to this.

One of Jerry's best solos, hands down. Love the aggression behind it.
