Madam Professor, can one country colonize itself and its own people ? One needs to come out of Pakistan narrative which is based on the division of 2 communities who have lived together as one nation for 1300 years to date.

A writter of Somalia,he has carried it far the fact and fiction of it, the story of the land and its people, intermixigng his personal experience and feeling, cutting the continental space with his thought and idea on war, militarism, factionalism, terrorism and fellow-feeling. Somalian history down the ages he reviews it, Somalian culture, polity, race, ethnity, poverty, corruption and border clashes and through engagement he comes out of the matrix of Italian, Ethiopian loyalties as some sort of allegiance and looking beyond that he loves to Panjab University as for his degree and the subsequent relationship consummating in the form of marriage and getting dissolved later. .

Excellent discussion from all of you. Thank you for having Dr. Lewis Gordon on. Another man of great historical insight. Books are important and reading to help all to learn history as the truth never evolves as each generation grows. Quote: The pursuit of truth shall set you free - even if you never catch up with it. Clarence Darrow. Ouote: A general definition of civilization: a civilized society is exhibiting the fine qualities of truth, beauty, art, and peace. Alfred North Whitehead Dr Iian McGilchrist books, "The Emissary and His Master Emissary," The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World, " The Matter With Things," Our Brains, Our Delusions and the Unmaking of the World, 2 volumes with 1500 pages of notes, and lectures of various backgrounds of discussions of how to make the world for all to benefit all humanity. Dr.Iian McGilchrist is a psychiatrist, neuroscience reseacher, philosopher and literary scholar. He lives on the Isle of Skye. "The Redbook" Libra Novus edited and with an Introduction by Sonu Shamdasani, C.J.Jung's writings 2009 and his blackbook being updated as this book was hidden for many years, until his descendents allowed it to be published. Dr. Gerald Horne's books of Afro-American studies are excellent. Professor Howard Zinn's, " A People's History of the United States of America, with an added addition all the way through Obama's Administration. Hannah Arendt was one of the most important political philosophers of the 20th century. Simone De Beavoir, excellent!!! What did President Degaule say about Sartre? "We can't put Voltaire in prison." Thank you all again about Phenon's important work and why. I have a couple of these books, as I have listened Dr. R. Gordon once before. The enormous quality an education may give one, if one is going outside of the box. I would love to see a dialog with Dr. Iian McGilchrist and Dr. Gordon. Is there any possibility you could E-mail him? It would be an enormous contribution to our humanity. I am a crispy cream snowflake with Cherokee Indian on one side and the other side of Irish and Spanish ,Mexican . I am almost sure black is in there somewhere. My parents thankfully, nor grandpa taught us of racisim in any form. In fact I was born in Alabama , grew up in the times of George Wallace and Bull Connor and stood with our black friends who did not see color, just what violence breeds from not understanding why. With much appreciation and reverence for this discussion again today. Art , music, creativity are the glues that hold our world together in addition with all that has been discussed again today. 🙏❤️🌏🌿🕊🎵🎶🎵

There is no such thing as the caste system 1. Caste is not mentioned in the Vedas (which date back to at least 5500 BCE). The Purushasukta of the Rig Veda has one mention, but this verse is acknowledged as a later day insert as its Sanskrit differs stylistically from the rest of the Rig Vedic text. 2. Please note that the Vedas are the canonical texts of Sanatan Dharma. For any text to be recognized as a shastra, it must be in consonance with the Vedas. Any text that contradicts the Vedas cannot be considered a shastra. As the Vedas do not mention caste, any text or verse mentioning caste cannot be said to be a shastra or shastric. 3. Caste is not mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita. The Bhagavad Gita is the first text where Bhagwan Sri Krishna lays out the concept of varna (individual state of mind) based on mix of gunas of the individual which can be sattvic, rajasic or tamasic. Varna and caste are two separate concepts. 4. When British took over India, they wanted to use religious laws to govern subjects. While they found Mughals Islamic laws to apply to Muslims, no universal law was used by Hindus. Each jati used its own laws to self-govern. 5. The British reviewed obscure Dharmashastras texts such as the Yajnyavalka Smriti, Naradasmriti, Visnusmriti and the Manusmriti to find some laws to apply. They settled on the Manusmriti. The Manusmriti was the least known and referred text among the Dharmasutras and barely used. 6. The Manusmriti is not an authentic text. At the time the British discovered it in the 1850’s, there were 50 different versions floating around, each different from the other and internally contradictory. Most of the text is anti-caste, with retroactive insertions in a text that is thousands of years old. This could have been made by the British themselves. 7. The British implemented the caste system in law beginning 1870s. This was the first time that caste was put in law in thousands of years of Indian history. These laws were withdrawn in the 1930’s. For example, the Mahars were employed as soldiers in the army of the Maratha Empire. However, the British outlawed them from army jobs under caste laws despite Mahars having fought for British in some campaigns.

"FANON REFUSED TO BE PATRONIZED"! Prof. Gordon. I don't doubt that this is the FIRST step towards Political Liberation. I was an orphan - at the age of 10 - and I felt very despondent... But I never accepted being patronized. It saved my emotional and political life. Thank you Prof. Gordon: You're "so real" - I t was a pleasure. [Although the You Know? You Know? OK? OK? ... For some reason this irritates me!] #judeuslivresporPALESTINALIVRE
