    I follow Aquachigger's advice for revealing details on worn coins. I let the coin air dry naturally, then use the natural oil from my forehead (transferred to my fingertip) to gently rub the coin. This technique has helped me reveal dates on coins that were previously illegible. Hope this makes sense.forgot to mention. Pick off as much debris. Don’t clean coin with anything.

    I've found some pretty nice rings in the past and some cool military badges, but I'm more of a coin fan. Found some early 1800s silver coins and late 1700s coppers 🙂

    I'll never understand why some of ya'll use your pinpointers to move the rocks and such out of the way, that's why we bring our hand Diggers. You're chewing up the top of your pinpointer doing that. I'm sorry, as a fellow detectorist is bugged me that even the seasoned folks are doing this latent.

  • @JustJayDetecting
    @JustJayDetecting4 күн бұрын

    Yeah a few people have made the same comment over the years, I guess it's a habit I picked up along the way. The good thing is though, that pointer is about ten years old, so it's handled the abuse pretty well. I also have a spare at home, so I'm not worried if my current one breaks.

    Great question, and really hard to answer haha! I've only ever used Garrett machines, and the AT Max is by far their best, in my opinion. It's what I'm using in this video. That being said, Minelab have great machines of their own. I know someone who uses the Manticore, which seems to do really well. Either of these machines will enable you to get into some serious all terrain detecting, but they come with a pretty serious price tag and a bit of a steep learning curve.
