    Hey Chammssss, honestly I would be very interested mainly if it contains the same Wah filter your are using emulated and controlled by velocity (Im mean an auto-Wah with a sensitivity level knob which determines the level at which the auto-Wah effect is engaged. Actually, a good Wah plugin is something badly missing. Cory Wong Archetype is the only plugin I found that can do this (+expression pedal control ofc) but this is a CPU killer. I wish someday NeuralDSP will release their pedals as plugins.

    That would be interesting in theory but here’s the thing. Im using real wah pedal and envelope filter in this video (which all slightly vary in tone depending on circuit, pot position, brand, model and year of production) Everyone is in pursuit of someone else’s clav sound. In order to achieve a great sounding clav, you have to remember a few things about the original. A real vintage D6 Clavinet provides only four tones from the pickup switches. Just about every Clavinet in existence will have a slightly different sound and feel to it. Real D6 Clavinets are imperfect instruments and there are many qualities about them people have either corrected, removed or adjusted in order to obtain the sound they desire. There is no consistency between every D6 other than the structure and design. The sound of a real Clavinet is imperfect from one another due to string age, string material, pickup distance, pickup lifespan, hammer tips, bent hammers, crusty anvil, crusty harp/string rod, loose key springs. Additionally, the original D6 preamps had hum noises, a few design changes over the years and sometimes users have modified the circuit. Also, every player has a different attack while playing which can produce unique dynamics in sound. Clavinets have no onboard effects other than some EQ switches and a mute damper. This is extremely important to remember when considering the tone you are expecting to get and how. Keyboardists over the years have had to endure hum noises and imperfections with a real Clavinet. That being said, many Clavinet players will use guitar / effects pedals to further shape the sound. For the real and experienced Clavinet user, there were only real wah pedals, real filter pedals, real compressors, real everything. There was no modeling or digital. Today, you can model a tone after the real thing, but you still need to decide what “real thing” you want. Cry Baby? Dunlop? Vox? Musictronics? Ross? Boss? EHX? Etc… All pedals can vary in tone. All Clavinets produce a slightly different tone. A D6 Clavinet has 4 tone settings, nothing more. People have used infinite pedal combinations to get the sound they desire. Ultimately, this Clavinet clone is replica of the bare Clavinet sounds every player was limited to - with imperfections. It’s up to the user to tinker and choose effects they want to use. If you want the same filter sound as me, all you need is a real wah pedal….etc… find one you like :)

    Great sound ! 👌 How do you do to have no buzz noise with your real D6 ? It's sounds really clean, I got one and tried to isolate the preamp but there is a lot of noise, even with a DI box or other tricks...

    Gosh, this brings back some fond memories for me. Circa 1976, one of my friends owned a D6 and I owned a Rhodes Stage 88, and he lent me his D6 for a blues gig at the Ice House in Pasadena, CA. With a Mu-Tron that D6 sounded so wicked that it inspired me to take some off-the-hook solos, which the folks at the venue complimented me on. The band absolutely killed. Great memory.

    It's a truly great Clavi clone, but I could tell there was an extremely minute and very slight grounding issue that gave it away. The sound itself is perfect, however.

  • @chammssss6919
    @chammssss69192 ай бұрын

    Thanks! Ya the real Clavinet in this video actually does have a consistent ground hum which is then silenced by a Decimator II pedal. The hum was indeed sampled and included with the multi-layer fake clone. Almost all original D6 preamps had an annoying hum that many owners have corrected over the years. I have not touched mine.
