Today Baffinland regretfully informed us Qaapik Attagutsiak has passed on. She seems to been an incredibly wise and compelling personality. We wish we could have known Qaapik, but at least here some part of her is preserved through time.

As an Inuk (NOT ESKIMO!!!) I found this EXTREMELY upsetting!!! Us Inuks were PLACED in this almost UNLIVABLE environment while the RCMP and White camp had all the comforts of 1950s White world meters away. This is why us Inuks and our other Non Whites SHOULD be forgiven of our CERB, CRB debts. Us Inuks are PAWNS of the Canadian government. They used our Peoples as chess pieces so the Soviets would not invade the Canadian Arctic.

Whites said this family could go back down after 2 years if not like the situation. NOPE!!! More LIES to prevent USSR from invading.

I think all the concerns are valid and must preserve the culture and protect the environment but must not overlook the benefits. We must go slowly and make sure all issues are considered. I hope to visit one day and look forward to seeing the culture of Northern Canada. Great video thank you!
