When you consider what else Hollywood was offering to adolescents and teens in 1977 (Freaky Friday, Winnie the Pooh, Disney re-releases, Viva Knievel, Benji 2?), it's no wonder Star Wars became a generation-defining phenomenon. It was as if every other PG movie was 'stuck' in 1972 and then Star Wars YANKED the collective imagination forward in time so hard we never got over it. I was 7 that year, and I can barely remember what else I cared about before SW. I feel fortunate to have experienced it when I did, how I did. GenX = the luckiest generation.

Cleona, our audio producer, is an '86er also. What was out the month you were born?

@@cinemafilmmovies2950I was born in August of 1986. And one of my favorite movies, “The Fly” came out that same month I was born. What a coincidence!

Good Morning Vietnam would be my pick for his best performance and his best motion picture overall. Moscow on the Hudson is an underrated gem.

“Butterfly” wins best movie poster. Hot dang

😏 Funny you should mention that. The actual poster is even more revealing. I did some subtle airbrushing to keep it family-friendly. Even though tampering like that undermines authenticity, I figured it was less objectionable than omitting the poster entirely. If you're curious about the original, you can see it here: www.imdb.com/title/tt0082122/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk
