I used to play this game everyday after school so many years ago man!!! I loved this game!!
Sonic still gets stuck in the air if you unlock super sonic and you jump as you pass the finish line. The end flag removed super sonic but where jumping triggers it again, you end up just floating and causing a soft lock.

There is no dipswitch, but you can use service settings as for most of the games without dipswitch (usually F2 button for MAME emulator). There are some options like maximum lap count, difficulty etc…

6:34 that's not really what a tesseract looks like, but because of our limitation so it appears weird to us of course. so you see a square is a 2D cube and its faces are lines? it has 4 faces. then 3D cube faces are made out of square and now it has 6 faces because adding 1 axis mean adding 2 new direction both forth and back. which means hypercube faces are made out od 3D cube similarly to 3D cube faces are made out of 2D squares. and it has 8 faces. by the way we called faces "boundaries" in higher dimension. it's just a pattern building on top just extending it. you can probably guess what 5D cube looks like. yes it has 10 boundaries(faces) and each boundaries(faces) made out of 4D cubes which means there are 10 tesseracts in side, and each tesseracts have 8 cubes each.. so 5D cube is made out of 80 3D cubes if I did math correctly. if you know math and play more with fourth dimension you will start to understand more about it 17:13 oh that's just a hollow tesseract.. 19:15 I told you it has 8 3D-faces

correct me if im wrong but in the first proto you show its not just spindashing into a wall that makes sonic get stunned, it happens if going at high speed(albeit haard to do without a spin dash due to collisions and stuff)

Dust hill zone is one of those zones that got scrapped VERY early on. The only screenshot of the zone literally has sonic using his sonic 1 sprite. Not many people talk about that when mentioning dust hill zone
Probably because it was a mockup,assuming you’re talking about the desert level since the zone’s name might actually be Sand Shower Zone. It was probably cut early but not too early since Oil Ocean’s final theme was most likely made for that level.

Some stuff I don’t see a lot of people talking about is regarding why you get transported from Hill Top 3 to Final zone, which is the trigger from Scrap Brain Act 3 when you reach the spring part in said zone. And this goes with pretty much every event you encountered in the Protos, Sonic 1’s events carried over to Sonic 2. The water in Hidden Palace moving is from Labyrinth The bottom of the screen in certain zones being the low point in Sonic 1. Some zones loop their geometry like in Scrap Brain 2/Hill Top 2. That’s why you were falling over and over again

The whole video is just one big mood lol. Especially the "I need to fix myself" and "I'm just one schedule away from being fixed, overcoming my executive dysfunction" attitude. Had the same experience in school and most of the problems just accumulated in my head. I was pretty good at masking until I got a job while attending uni and I just caved. Stress made me fail an entire semester and made me think of doing something to myself that I would have the chance to regret. I'm better now, got diagnosed with anxiety and depression and I'm on meds that make me not be in fight or flight mode 24/7. Idk why I'm writing this tbh. I just hope you manage to find a schedule that works for you, also don't be hard on yourself, you deserve to be happy! You have a talent to talk freely even when you yourself might not fully appreciate it. I bet you could branch out into a lot of other topics (this video is a good example, you made me watch the whole thing!). I've read a book recently that helped me a little bit called "housekeeping while drowning" its about cleaning but its applicable for other areas as well so you might look into that. Interesting… suggests HPZ was adapted from LZ, which suggests those steep vertical bits were probably based off the similar from LZ where you start the act in them and keep plummeting until you jump out.

for the people that dont know this game is maybe inspired by Discs of tron arcade game, probably made because the idea of a 3d and multiplayer discs of tron would be cool.
