I work in Bristol but have always lived in North-East Somerset, and yeah it's a really amazing place to be. I'm not that close to Glastonbury, a good thirty minutes away, but have spent a lot of time there as my father was in a nursing home there before he passed. I miss him a lot, but wouldn't have had it any other way. If you've never been, it's worth spending time there at least once. Thanks for making this video.

Mine, as well. I was just visiting still standing ancestral homes from the mid 1600s in Massachusetts. Back then, it must have felt as though they were traveling to Mars: no known society, no establishments or towns, and you probably would never come home again.

Yes I bet that’s great in many ways, but living in many places especially in the North is very depressing. Then again I have lived and worked abroad, America for years. I’m planning on heading south, and then back to the states at some point ……much prefer the people in the south to the North where I was born & raised.

It's weird how Somerset accents vary from place to place. I'm from north Somerset, while this video isn't gibberish I find it fascinating how different it is to my accent. I also think it might be a generation thing as well.

I miss Somerset. Stayed outside Taunton, visited the 7 Sister hill with the wild horses a few years before the pandemic started. Will definitely go back when it is over.

@Yanks & Brits depends where you go Not sure if you still need this advice tho The villages can get extremely expensive, with some being some of the most expensive outside of London The towns and larger villages are more affordable, with the cheapest most likely Bridgwater though I can't confirm that.

I can confirm that bridgwater is currently the cheapest. There's an interestingly big gap between rent price and sale price in Somerset compared to other Counties in the south west though, not quite sure why because lots of historical farmland is now being developed into housing estates.
