Yes, Lilia bent her knees, but fortunately it didn't interrupt her swing or the flow of the routine. Also, at nearly every Olympics that I've watched, I've noticed that the judges seem to give an Olympic gift to established gymnasts that make some mistakes. It's almost as if they want to keep them on the podium.

She won the AA simply by having the fewest mistakes- and only small little things here and there. That’s how you do it!

For all those saying this was the golden age of gymnastics and today’s is garbage- let me point out some reality to you. 1.) Gymnasts of the 1980’s were predominantly STARVED, GROSSLY OVERWORKED little girls forced to push so far beyond the limits by their countries (the USSR and Romania being the biggest guilty parties) it caused countless serious injuries and mental health issues. These young girls were horribly abused, bullied and mistreated all for the sake of winning at any cost. 2.) There was a gross amount of corruption in scoring for gymnastics- particularly world and Olympic competitions- it was as unfair a setting as has ever been seen in any sport in history. The USSR in particular had the judging in their control, and THEY decided who won and who lost. That is not a golden age, that is a TARNISHED one. I have lost count of the number of truly deserving, amazing athletes who were blatantly screwed out of being Olympic champions simply because they weren’t the ones chosen to be so. I do agree that this era had tremendous variety, innovation, creativity and pizzazz- but so does current gymnastics. Uneven bars continues to see new combinations, new transitions every year- if people stop uselessly lamenting the past and pay actual attention. The dance in today’s gymnastics is DIFFERENT than the ballet of yesteryear, but this is artistic GYMNASTICS, not artistic BALLET. If you are so enamored of dancing, you can always watch rhythmic gymnastics- or dancing! There are plenty of us who appreciate the exciting, high energy routines of today just as much and who don’t see the need to demean them simply because they don’t “dance” like the past. In all seriousness, if you don’t like what you see today, DO NOT WATCH. The gymnasts of today, who actually look like ATHLETES and not unhealthy little stick figurines deserve the same respect and courtesy as those who came before.

Reading the multitude of comments on here, two things are obvious. People have no respect for the creator of the video, and people feel only Europeans are gymnasts. Who has ruled gymnastics for the past 12+ years? Right… America. Get over it and yourselves.

I just gotta say when I read the title of the video, I thought it was gonna be a different song... it woulda been better..."Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac!!!!😍 Perfect lyrics for any retired gymnast who loved gymnastics!!! 🎵 I took my love, I took it down I climbed a mountain and I turned around And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills 'Til the landslide brought me down Oh, mirror in the sky What is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life? Well, I've been afraid of changin' 'Cause I've built my life around you But time makes you bolder Even children get older And I'm getting older too Well, I've been afraid of changin' 'Cause I've built my life around you But time makes you bolder Even children get older And I'm getting older too Oh! I'm getting older too Oh-oh, take my love, take it down Oh-oh, climb a mountain and you turn around And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills Well, the landslide bring it down And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills Well, the landslide bring it down Oh-ohh, the landslide bring it down

1992 was the last year that the judges weren’t heavily scrutinized- and punished- for biased scoring. The perfect 10 for Milo in 1992 was absolute proof of the severity of the problem- considering it was AT BEST a 9.85 routine. Several landing deductions- obvious ones- were completely disregarded. Ironically, in 1996 Nellie Kim was the judge who was sanctioned for bias!
