I wonder how good Gotch was in a real match
I knew this could be used in bjj but guys at the academy where I train said there was no such thing. Maybe they just didn't know about it but I'll be sure to introduced it next time. By the way you think there's any other pro wrestling things that could transition to bjj like Sgt. Slaughter's Cobra Clutch?
The face he makes right before tapping is gold.
I wonder what would he say about modern stuff...
That's an excruciating hold!
That’s awesome, never thought I’d see legit tag team wrestling in my life time. This is what I wanted when I first started watching wrestling and was fooled as a kid to believe was legit. But this is exactly what I hoped to see one day
An open guard variation of the spladle or banana split would be interesting to see as well.
the thumbnail is fire!!!
All of the older wrestlers tell the same boring ass stories over and over because they get paid by Podcasters.
Love that you edited saying " he was cross eyed " over that particular match were Ray Steven's called him a "cock-eyed coal miner" in a post match promo😅 Also interesting, as always it seems everyone commenting in that Rock feature were people who weren't even there and most weren't even in the business at the time Larry Zybysko is another one like that who wasn't even there but talks like he was
Sakuraba fought monthly and fought anyone. These days you will never see a guy his size willing to take on the world's top heavyweights. Bushido heart!
What a great footage!!
Was just a matter of time…

Standing achilles and then you can get a boston crab hahaha
Karl Gotch hadn't lifted weights for probably 20+ years by this, all that power from bodyweight exercises, clubs, mace etc., old school

I learned it for pro wrestling, and was able to get the cravat easily on the ground in bjj sparring too. guys did not know how to get out. Unfortunately we often ended up just sitting there, me trying to get a choke or crank out of it, but it didn’t really do much in itself. Either I should have workshopped it more, or (like you say) worked on transitions for position/submission. But at my level it did not much good …except frustrating my partner for awhile 😅 Is it at all workable as a crank or choke in your experience?
What did they weigh? Lutze looks much larger. Also some of those break-ups, I have no problem with the use of ring escapes for submissions but some of those were questionable.
Tony Galindo taught us something similar out of sambo. This looks great.
A legend. I was fortunate to attend one of his seminars in NJ in 2011.
That guy looks like Rollins
