It was a cool concept, but Pinball 2000 was too expensive to own and repair for arcade owners. Meanwhile the new video arcades were attracting all the players and were both cheaper and easier to maintain. So, the pinball machines faded out. I actually don’t like these machines because the top 3rd of the playfield is devoid of anything but flat targets due to the video mode.

There's more to Williams getting out of pinball. they along with the Bally rights were acquired by Scientific Games, around this time that they attempted Pinball 2000, who was already into things like state lottery/gambling, Bally's roots believe it or not were actually slot machines back at it's inception in the early 1930's. Midway was spun off as an independent company and sold to American Amusements and driven into the ground.

Really great video, something I really want to get into. Side note, another one of my hobbies is animal skulls... hydrogen peroxide is great for making the bones white.

You got ripped. When I bought my complete set for $1200.00 it also came with an apron cover as well. I never used the idol and still have it, because I bought a 24k plated original idol and liked it better. It does look amazing, but I can't understand why they wouldn't include the apron. Needless to say I sold my Indy for 20k, but it was completely all good armor, the Elite Topper Ark, with the Dior ruin set. Such a beautiful machine I wish I had it back!!!

Believe it or not, TAF is actually the game that killed pinball. It was so good people didn't want to buy new ones. It stayed at "A" locations much longer than any other one.

UnACCEPTABLE those slobs at Stern give such grossly insufficient directions on installing those small balls!! At that price & w all the engineering, not ONE a them geniuses had the simple foresight to see how bad that is?! 😖🤦‍♂️ I’m hoppin pissed & it ain’t even my game! 🤷‍♂️

I did very similar in 2016 with a project RFM I came across, complete restore new side art with cab repair, pin blades that I had custom printed, etc. It has a custom topper with fog machine and interactive spaceship lights that go off if you 'attack mars' and occasionally on a timer some fog comes across the top. Custom speaker grill art, all the aliens, spaceship hand weathered and detailed, etc. It was my first ever pinball project so I went all out, even the inside of the cab is painted black and red. Had a lot of fun doing it but don't think I will ever go that extreme again lol. Happy I did because RFM is a great overall machine that everyone who plays enjoys (not just pinheads).

Would be a great place for a dad to take his kids for a few hours. I hope you make some good money doing all that foam art work.

VERY personable guy, very curios to learn about others, not just talk about his work. I sure wish I’d known that THEN. Can’t wait to see this vid you refer to! 👍

This was the first pin I bought. It didn't kill Williams pinball production as it was a huge hit. Star Wars P2000 did that as it's practically a giveaway when you buy a P2K system now. Other than the Apron and possibly the backglass the rest were easy to source or fix on this one.
