During the 80s, I had 2 cars with Ford's with the factory cassette players. They both had great sound quality, and they were both very reliable. Also we had a 1990 Town Car with a JBL CD player. The Town Car was the first American car to have a factory CD player. I'm pretty sure that Motorola made the non JBL units.

@@williammaceri8244 Motorola may have made some of the amplifiers for the Premium Sound system. When they introduced the 6 speaker version of Premium Sound in the 1980 Lincolns, it was really the first time a car manufacturer made an effort to provide better speakers with a proper, dedicated 4 channel amplifier that had a decent amount of power (they had a 4 speaker version in some cars in '79, but it wasn't as good of a system as the '80 6 speaker one in the Lincolns). It was far ahead of anything else other car manufacturers had to offer until GM started with Bose in 1983. Ford was also the only company (aside from Rolls Royce) to have quadraphonic 8 track players to play the special 4 channel surround sound tapes, which they offered from model year 1976 through most of 1982...they were the best 8 track players from a car manufacturer, especially those later systems if the Premium Sound was ordered with it.

I have them but they are expensive would do a rebuilt one shipped for 175. But the hardest thing is trying to find good ones to rebuild, and to always test them to make sure they are good. That’s the hardest problem of all because most of the time if you do see him in the junkyards, they’re roached whether too much corrosion or from a fire.

I was a Cub Scout. My dad was co Pack leader, and my mom was Den Mother for me and all my buddies. In September of 65, my dad and others arranged a tour of the GM Assembly Plant in Van Nuys, California. It was less than 10 miles from where I lived. I will always remember that night. I hate what has happened to our beloved, beautiful American luxury cars. I first thought we would see them return as EVs, but that doesn't look to promising at this point. I believe the answer is an ICE powered by Hydrogen. I read they are already in progress, so let's hope we see them soon. I think they might even sound like our gas-powered ICEs. I don't like cars that don't make any noise while running, and there's no way I will settle for a recording of a traditional V8. That will never happen!
