    The tie-in video game was a lot of fun as well from what I remember too. It’s been ages since I played it on PS2 but I liked how it was a proper sequel to the movie rather than being based on the movie except for the first level taking place right at the end of the movie I’m pretty sure.

    Auto is just following the directive from the CEO. The CEO's last command was to take control and not return to earth. This movie really pumps Auto as the villain when it was the inaction of the previous generation that screwed humanity over. I feel that shot of portraits of Auto getting closer to the captain showing them as the villain was a mistake. Having Auto as a villain is exciting for the grand final, but it makes us forget the real villain is the inaction of people allowing Earth to fall into ruin. I agree with the top comment, they had a test audience that said that Wall-E's humans were doomed and had to add in a credit scene showing them surviving to solidify a happy end, rather than rewrite the silent film robot movie to incorporate more human characters caring about Earth. (and I'm fine with that for I love the silent film robot movie)

    I'm definitely in the "Loser Baby" camp, but nearly all of the songs really got me. Currently I'd say my other favorites are: Stayed Gone, You Didn't Know, Poison, Out for Love, Hell's Greatest Dad, More than Anything... it just always feels like there's one more song that should still go on the list, but then I could just list them all.

    I hate that they made Asami into a hero, rather than the villian 🦹‍♂️/anti-hero she was clearly intended as. It gives her no real reason to be there. Plus, she would have been more likable as an antihero to give the group another perspective anyway. Also, would have made the romance 🌹 with Korra at the end make more sense if they had an excuse to learn each other's personality.

    The other people seem to be living robots. They are mostly on autopilot, but have their own souls. Which is especially relevant if they are in a situation they are not programmed for, so default to their true nature. Which is also why the theater 🍿 play had the actors argue with each other and eventually take on forms which express their nature better. That is mostly just an internal sense thing, rather than having much metaphorical meaning though. 😅

    The first 2 seasons of this show definitely Warner perfect by any means but season 3 onwards was incredible and I couldn’t stop watching. I think the biggest crime this show has was the gap between books 2 and 3 was atrocious! We literally had to wait forever to get more episodes but luckily there wasn’t as long of a wait for book 4. I’m glad about that.

  • @CinemaOverAnalyzed
    @CinemaOverAnalyzed13 күн бұрын

    I don't blame the creative team after the poor reception of the second book, it is probably best to regroup and find your bearing again. Plus there was a myriad of different production issues going on. I believe around this point Nickelodeon lost faith in the show. Due to its poor rating, it was banished to the internet; where the end of Book 3 and all of 4 were released. Which is quite unfortunate.

    The whole Avatar is "better" than Korra debate really boils down to Korra not being the same story as Avatar and reminds me how certain Mistborn fans don't like the Alloy of Law books because they're not like the original Mistborn trilogy but try to dress it up as a issue of "quality" when they're just they're own story.

  • @CinemaOverAnalyzed
    @CinemaOverAnalyzed13 күн бұрын

    I've never read Mistborn, so I'm not quite sure as to what you're referring to; my apologies. But if it is kind of like how people dislike the sequel Star Wars trilogy, they I tend to agree. Korra vs. Aang should be as much of an issue as it is. Two different people with two different journeys of self-growth.

  • @punishanpika
    @punishanpika6 күн бұрын

    The issue with Korra is the writing ✍️ department wrote the seasons in parallel. Which is a *REALLY* bad idea. There is no room for smooth continuity.

    Wow. I know that the show had production issues, especially during season 2: Spirits, but I didn’t know that the 2 animation studios had something to do with i; I thought they mostly work on animation and not storytelling. Also, I felt like Korra in the first half of season 2 was the result of her pride growing since the end of season 1: Air before she got brief amnesia.

  • @CinemaOverAnalyzed
    @CinemaOverAnalyzed13 күн бұрын

    Yep, once you see it you can't be unseen; it's quite strange. Studio Mir did a lot of work on this series, and it truly shows. It was unfortunate that a lot of the animators got burned from working on this project. I see your point about her growing pride. But it doesn't excuse the fact that she displaced her anger on others.

    Buttercup. Let me break it down: the three girls are pretty even all things considered. They all have strengths and weaknesses that pretty much ensures no one of them is the master of everything, at least not any more so than the other two. However, when Blossom has the unique ability to freeze things with her ice breath, and Bubbles has the unique ability to communicate with animals and speak other languages, what is Buttercup left with? Sure, there’s the curling tongue, but I think there’s more to it. Buttercup is the fighter, so really, not giving her a special power doesn’t make any sense, unless that “power” is her raw potential. I think instead of having a unique ability, she keeps the same power puff powers, but hers is a bit stronger. Of course, the show never indicates any of this, and it wouldn’t be enough to guarantee a win for her against her sisters if she was going all out, but I still think she’s the strongest. Edit: I also don’t think their fight with Bubbles at all counts, because there’s no way they were going all out on her.

    I think her character makes way more sense as a narcissist seeking only her own interests who just happens to have a very emotional opposition against violence. You could argue that her relationship with Jayce is genuine, but that wouldn’t be against her interests, but rather align with them. One scene I think can’t be properly explained with your analysis is the one where she describes him as an „investment“ right before making a move on him, it also makes her relationship seem a lot less genuine.

    Yes you nailed it! Loved your take on her arc being about mercy, hadn't thought of it like that before. To me her facial expressions, tone of voice, background etc. didn't indicate that she was trying to pull the strings in a malicious way at all. She doesn't enjoy corruption, but knows that participating in it to some extent is a necessity for the sake of the city and gaining favor with the other counsel members. She definitely does try to guide Jayce into the direction of mercy and peace, which is not the same as manipulation imo. Also her getting angry that Jayce left her in the bed, or the way she sweetly smiles at him at the very end when they got the council to agree to peace with the undercity, as well as other tender moments between the two, showed she truly cares for him imo. I really don't think she got in a relationship with him just because she wanted to use him.

  • @zuckergolf4442
    @zuckergolf4442Ай бұрын

    Of course she doesn’t sound or look evil, no character in this show does, I think it’s a deliberate decision by the creators to force us to think about them in a more nuanced way and judge them based on their actions. If you apply that principle to Mel it becomes clear that she is more like her mother than you might think. What really makes her different is that she has a categorical and very emotional opposition towards violence, but apart from that she is still ruthless and narcissistic, her political decisions are either motivated by her own personal interests or her opposition to violence, she never mentions the wellbeing of her people as her motivation, which is ultimately the moral responsibility of an oligarch like her.

    I remember my parents getting this for my siblings and I and popping it on without a second thought. This film is legitimately PG-13 and my parents went, 'It's animated, of course it's safe for kids.' This is the battle I've fought with them for years; animation can go beyond just kids and family focused. But I do honestly love this film. It's always on my Halloween lineup and looks awesome.

    I similar thing happened to me when I was younger. My father thought that just because it was animated it was safe for kids. So he let me watch Futurama, Bevis and Butthead, and King of the Hill. Which are all not suitable for a five or six-year-old. I specifically remember telling him: "I don't think this is for kids" Haha, I still joke about it with him today. I don't blame him for his logic on animation, he just didn't know any better.
