    Where does the s1 and S2 wire go to and what gauge wire does it need to be? And if I have th2 s1 and s2 hooked up, do i need to hook up the thermostat wires too?

  • @geraldhenrickson7472
    @geraldhenrickson74727 күн бұрын

    On my QCiQ 4 ton ducted heat pump the terminal for S1 and S2 are clearly marked. BE AWARE that both install manuals I received with the heat pump warn against using S1 and S2 terminals only under certain circumstances or the board may be damaged. Also says to NEVER apply 24v power to S1 and/or S2. You might want to call whomever sold you your heat pump for technical advice.

    @@geraldhenrickson7472 Thanks for replying and I should have better worded the question. I have the same setup in the video above for terminals S1 S2 B W D in class 1 and R C Y1 Y2 L in class 2 for my ACIQ heat pump. I was wondering where the S1 and S2 wire connection from the heat pump go to? And if I have the 24 V thermostat wires hooked up like yours ( I see you have a red, blue, black and yellow wire in video), does the S1 and S2 still need to be hooked up in addition to thermostat wires or no?

    As a customer of 14 years, I’m extremely happy to say that my Goodman air-conditioning and furnace system has never broken down. Just recently The only part to go bad is a capacitor. And due to improper installation condensation lines the evaporator pan cracked. But other than that, my unit had never been touched for 14 years by any any service tech I’m extremely happy with Goodman is my first home and my first unit I’ve ever purchased

    Very helpful. Would like a rundown like this for the dip switches. One comment. At 6:49 “if you are using 24V communication”… The connection between indoor and outdoor unit for both “Connection method A” and “Connection method B” use the S1 & S2 terminals.

    I disagree with the instruction at 1:45 to "Make sure it's perfectly level. There's no need to pitch it toward the drain hole". My Gree smells musty upon startup, probably because there's slight pooling of water. Knowing what I know now I would pitch it slightly toward the drain hole, like 1 degree.

    FYI I would keep my low voltage wires aways from 240v load wires to avoid induction currents. Like in your video just move yellow and white wires away, move the supply black wires to the right.

    Those coils were the worst, couldn’t really handle the pressure of 410a especially in the green grass states. The copper tubes were too thin and brittle. The aluminum do much better.

    I found the communicating Thermostat very easy to install and use. I couldn't run a new thermostat 18gauge wire to the air handler due to shared condo walls. I only had 4 wires existing and that's not enough to do the 24 volt thermostat. Using existing 18g wire from old non-communicating Trane unit made the thermostat install almost too easy. The directions state it's supposed to be a shielded wire, but mine works as its not near any 240 v wire or other power wire. I installed the ACiQ ducted 2ton unit and the amount of money I saved in electricity is amazing.

    Thanks for sharing! I found it difficult to understand how the wiring was supposed to be hooked up from the paperwork with a thermostat.... (without using the signal cable to my indoor air handler). I have a 3 ton ACIQ unit with a 10KW Style Crest indoor air handler unit. I have not installed any of it as of this date.

    Suggestion: Instead of showing that for $100 the heat pump generates 4x more heat, which is true, a better visual would be to show that $100 electric resistance outputs 10,000 btus and the heat pump for that same 10,000btus would cost $25. That would be a more relatable comparison for the end user and showcase a bit more effectively that heat pumps save on operating cost. Yes they produce more heat under like for like design conditions for the same cost but operating cost savings is the true winner with a heat pump.
