That surface where it meets the hole, 90° and displays completely different surface work. I don't know how to explain it well, but ground surfaces that meet up to any other angle tend to have very crisp edges, and its only created by grinding work done by a person. Highly polished meeting up to non polished because they werent able to polish the inside of the hole. It's very evenly worn by the sand in the river, giving it extra gloss than what it originally looked like. The material looks to be high in hematite, they must have gotten a bunch of paint off of making that one. There are outcrops of high iron sandstones found around Central Oklahoma, and it was highly revered as paint stone around here. It's fairly easy to make things out of despite its hardness. It starts out black/red but grinds to be an almost graphite looking black, just like your piece. It should be heavy for it's size if it is. I will admit, when I saw you pull this I had some doubts. But after going about collecting a bunch of different local materials and working them to different things, as well as finding worked bits of the same stuff from sites, I can say for sure that its legit.

That's one of the things confusing me about it is the stone itself. It's actually very lightweight feeling.

Looks like a novice knapper made his best effort, predictably producing a point that looks like a novice made it, then dropped it there to "be found". But you already knew that. Looks NOTHING like a genuine artifact
